It's not mentioned that the party doesn't exactly exist anymore
[edit]Recently they merged with Meretz forming a party called "the democrats" 2A06:C701:7502:DA00:37D9:AF31:83B0:F6D0 (talk) 17:16, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
- The merger still has to be approved by both parties; until then both parties still exist. Labor will vote on it on 12 July. David O. Johnson (talk) 17:51, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
"was"?
[edit]This article's lead mentions that: "Under the terms of the agreement, Labor and Meretz continue to function as separate corporate and budgetary entities, and their factions in the Histadrut, municipal councils, and other bodies outside the Knesset remain distinct while cooperating". Does this not explicitly mean that the Labor Party (as well as Meretz) continues to exist? Loytra✨ 09:53, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
- The Labor Party and the "Democrats" party are the same legal entity, in fact it's still called the Labor Party officially (but they intend to change it). Meretz also still technically exists, but all of its members were rolled into the Labor Party and the party is mostly gone.
- So yes, the Labor Party still exists and will run in the next elections. But creating a new article for it's new phase as the "Democrats" isn't necessarily a wrong choice though, some can argue the legal status matter less than how the public and party actually perceive it. It's up for interpertation. בלוב01 (talk) 11:20, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
Left-wing until 2005?
[edit]The article itself states the Labor Party was democratic socialist until 2005 - a very clear-cut left-wing ideology. Wouldn't it be appropriate to change that in the infobox? And add a "historical" section as well. KeysofDreams (talk) 15:26, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
