Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Israel|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

Removing a closed AfD discussion

Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.

Other types of discussions

You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Israel. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). This fails WP:NEVENT, which it must pass if it is to stay an article on Wikipedia. There are no results on Google Scholar and no relevant results on Google Books, which analyse the event more than the contemporary news reports. • Delete per nom - trivially fails WP:DEPTH if the most enduring reason to keep it is tangential references in lawsuits, but those lawsuits seem to be larger in scope. This article fails WP:NEVENT. Firstly, and most concerningly, this gets no hits on Google Scholar or Google Books. The 'hits' on Google Books are just unrelated Italian books. The coverage on Google News ends soon after the event. There is no WP:PERSISTENCE in coverage, or any WP:LASTING effects. Most of the sources are Israeli, so it doesn't fulfill WP:DIVERSE or WP:GEOSCOPE. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 14:38, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

• Delete the car crash isn't notable, the "events" (for lack of a better term) around what happened to the body after appear to be more political then anything notable for wiki. • There are many events that are significant in themselves but have not been covered by reliable media. While both the WP:N and WP:V sections state that notability is not the only factor determining whether an article may exist, a letter is a primary source and is significant only to the people involved in the correspondence. This page, therefore, constitutes an indiscriminate collection of information, and Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. Merge into Poale Zion

This article describes the Palestine/Ottoman Palestine branch of Poale Zion, rather than a fully independent political party with its own ideology or long‑term organizational continuity.

In most historical writing, Poale Zion activity in Palestine is presented as part of the broader Poale Zion movement, alongside branches in Russia, Poland, Britain, and elsewhere. The sources used here treat the Palestine organization as a territorial branch rather than as a separate party in its own right.

Much of the content—founding in 1906, ideology, leadership, and activity in Ottoman Palestine—is already covered, or would naturally fit, in the existing Palestine‑related sections of Poale Zion. Keeping a separate article risks unnecessary duplication and fragmentation, contrary to the approach outlined in WP:SUMMARYSTYLE and WP:CFORK.

Per WP:MERGE, a better solution would be to merge the sourced content into a clearly labeled subsection such as "Palestine / Ottoman Palestine" within Poale Zion, while retaining any unique, reliably sourced details rather than removing them. LevantineArchivist (talk) 20:55, 27 April 2026 (UTC)

• Oppose - on the contrary, we need to populate with more articles on the different PZ organizations, there are still several gaps. Treating PZ as a single movement, when it underwent many changes and splits over time. I understand the concern about the main Poale Zion article being confusing, but creating a proliferation of permanent, low-context stubs for every territorial branch doesn't solve that-it just spreads the confusion across more pages. If the main article is messy, the encyclopedic solution is to clean up and structure the main page better, rather than creating premature spin-offs that don't yet independently meet the general notability guidelines. Merging this into a dedicated "Palestine" section follows WP:SUMMARYSTYLE and allows readers to understand its context within the broader movement's history without leaving orphaned, underdeveloped articles floating around. • Merge into Poale Zion as a premature SPINOFF. The article as nominated did give that impression — it rested on a subject-linked e-zine, a devotional website, a fan-run Tumblr and the subject's employer bio. That was a sourcing failure, not an absence of sources. I have rewritten the article

I take Longhornsg's point that much of the coverage arises from Bisman's institutional roles, but I don't think that is a notability objection. WP:GNG does not require that coverage of a person be unrelated to the work they are known for; applying that standard would remove most business, arts and academic biographies from the encyclopedia. The 2006 Forward feature and the Forward 50 entry are about the person, and the 2011 coverage treats his judgment and decisions as the subject.

I would also oppose the proposed redirect target for reasons independent of notability. JDub closed in 2011. Bisman then spent years at Jazz at Lincoln Center and has been at Sesame Workshop since 2020, currently as SVP of marketing, in which capacity he is the named source in The New York Times explaining the Big Bird vaccination announcement. A redirect to JDub Records would send readers looking for either of the two subsequent roles to a defunct record label, and would be a worse outcome for readers than either keeping or deleting. • Keep per WP:HEY. The nomination was a reasonable read of the article as filed, but per WP:ARTN the question is what sources exist, not how the article was written on 27 July, and the rewrite since nomination has answered that. Checking the sourcing now cited:

• The 2006 Forward feature by Dan Levin is a profile of Bisman himself; JDub is the occasion for it, not the subject.
• The Forward 50 entry that year is likewise about the person.
• The July 2011 Forward and New York Jewish Week pieces on JDub's closure are built on interviews with him and on outside assessments of his decisions.
• The December 2021 New York Times story has him as the named source in a role he took a decade after JDub folded.

Independent, secondary, bylined, and spread across fifteen years, that should meet WP:GNG and WP:BASIC comfortably.

I would also oppose the redirect, and I don't think it survives its own premise. Longhornsg accepts that the coverage is rich, so this is not a WP:BIO1E situation: the sourcing spans JDub, Jazz at Lincoln Center and Sesame Workshop, with the most recent coverage attaching to the third. Redirecting to a label that shut down in 2011 would leave readers arriving from the later roles at the wrong article entirely, which is worse for readers than either outcome the nominator or I prefer. • Redirect to JDub Records. Isn't the only SIGCOV here of the actual subject the Forward profile ? It seems like a great profile, but it's (afaict) the only one that exists. I don't think getting interviewed or quoted as a source about another subject can confer notability upon the subject himself, and the pieces that are straightforwardly interviews lack independence anyway. I do see the issue with searching the name "Aaron Bisman" based on seeing it in one of the Sesame Street articles and getting sent to this record label article where one might wonder "is this really the same Aaron Bisman?" but it seems better to redirect to his seemingly most notable role rather than making the name a dead end. ^purring_maggot (talk) 01:49, 10 August 2026 (UTC)

• Redirect to JDub Records. The Forward profile is the only source with WP:SIGCOV. I dug through newspapers.com in the hopes of finding a second source, but no lick. He gets mentioned in passing/ name dropped a lot, and is quoted in articles on other things but there really isn't enough coverage to justfy a standalone article. I propose merging to List of Islamist terrorist attacks because this page falls under WP:NOPAGE and very likely does not meet WP:NEVENT. There are books that cover this event after it happened, like this one, but this is from the US state department, which was involved in this event, so it is not WP:INDEPENDENT.
