This article is focused on today's protest but also has background info re: 50501:

--Another Believer (Talk) 14:56, 19 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

I want to join the protest in my area. I hope we’re having more. 70.122.231.135 (talk) 15:10, 20 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Can you give me the Dallas Texas information to join 70.122.231.135 (talk) 15:11, 20 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, we aren't affiliated with 50501 and don't have that information. Mikeycdiamond (talk) 16:42, 20 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

re: How to organize content

[edit]

50501 protests remains primarily focused on the February demonstrations. There were protests in March (see above; almost none of this was added to the article) and April (see Day of Action, which currently has a merge tag). Especially since the demonstrations are likely to continue, I don't think it is practical to include all information about 50501 protests in one entry. This is why I oppose merging Day of Action.

I've been thinking about this recently. What about organizing by month?

Just floating the idea to see what others think. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:50, 28 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Mikeycdiamond: Curious what you think, given your recent comment at Talk:Day of Action. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:43, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
I would support this. I can also expand the march one on the weekend (I have a personal commitment I can't get out of, but I will have some time). Mikeycdiamond (talk) 18:07, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
To clarify, the day of action page would be merged/turned into the April page? Mikeycdiamond (talk) 18:08, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yes, Day of Action would be moved to 50501 protests, April 2025 or 50501 protests in April 2025. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:23, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Cool. Also, I would like to state I support the version that uses in instead of the comma version. Mikeycdiamond (talk) 18:31, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Works for me! It'd be nice if another editor or two could weigh in here, just so it doesn't look like we've made a decision without consensus. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:55, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Sure, but considering no one ever weighs in (only a single other person commented on a merge discussion that was shown on two pages), we might have to ping someone. Mikeycdiamond (talk) 19:02, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Mikeycdiamond If you'll remove the merge tag at Day of Action, I'll move the page. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:43, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I've moved the page to 50501 protests in April 2025. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:24, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Mikeycdiamond I've also created 50501 protests in March 2025. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:29, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Mikeycdiamond I don't know if the Reactions section is specific to the February protests or not, but I've moved the other February-specific content to 50501 protests in February 2025. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:39, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

I realize we've just created pages for each month, but I think 2025 May Day protests is more appropriate than 50501 protests in May 2025 since activities in the U.S. are part of a global demonstration. If 50501 continues to organize more protests in May, then creating 50501 protests in May 2025 may also be appropriate. But, for now, I think we should discuss 50501 in the U.S. section of 2025 May Day protests. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:02, 1 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

As someone who came to the April page to read (not to edit) I found the organization confusing and also a little long. There's a lot of good sourcing work which I appreciate but I think it might be better to collapse it all into one article and leave out the exact cities & streets the protests happened on. Just one man's opinion... FergusArgyll (talk) 21:59, 13 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

One article? Strong oppose. ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:12, 13 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Another Believer. Mikeycdiamond (talk) 00:17, 14 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Why? Is it because they are unambiguously different events? Aren't they all connected? Are the protests of each month notable on their own? FergusArgyll (talk) 12:03, 14 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Ironically, yes they are all notable on their own. Each time a protest happens, AP and other extremely reliable sources covers the big idea and events in large cities. Then reliable local news sources covers everything else. You underestimate the sheer number of sources on each protest. Mikeycdiamond (talk) 12:11, 14 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
To be clear, I'm not making any argument about the reliability of the sources - they are top notch. It's an organization issue in my mind. This is obviously not a perfect analogy but I would compare it to something like Solar eclipse of April 8, 2024. Surely we can write an article Solar eclipse in dallas tx April 8, 2024. There are a lot of local stations / outlets covering the event but the story is the same for each city; there's an eclipse and you can see it everywhere in the path. Retelling the same story for each city is redundant. FergusArgyll (talk) 12:45, 14 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
But we aren't writing an article about each protest, we are briefly mentioning it and any notable details about where it was or what happened. I would support adding the protest dates to the background section of each article (and possibly adding a list of the protest dates in the main article) but not getting rid of it as a whole. Mikeycdiamond (talk) 21:35, 16 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I don't think it's egregious or anything terrible, if more readers complain about having a hard time navigating this then I would think about a reorganization. Thanks for the work you put into this... FergusArgyll (talk) 18:37, 17 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Infobox reduction

[edit]

Due to the relatively small size of the actual text in this article, I propose removing some of the images and simplifying the parties in the info box. 2605:4A80:7400:8500:13F:B74C:1D28:4563 (talk) 00:41, 10 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Would anyone else like to comment on image reduction? 2605:4A80:7400:8500:B5B9:87A4:2806:7799 (talk) 05:39, 17 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

No Kings protests

[edit]

Not one mention of the term "No Kings", but we have a bigger problem.

Tryptofish says the No Kings protests article should cover the earlier protests. I disagree given that there is a No Kings Day (currently a redirect to the other article). One solution is to move the No Kings protests article to No Kings Day. That would give us the opportunity to move this article to No Kings protests and cover all of them. To do that we'd have to actually use "No Kings" here and summarize the protests in later months. I'm not prepared for such an overhaul of this article, but something needs to be done.— Vchimpanzee  talk contributions 17:05, 14 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

I've added this article to the See also section. Opm581 (talk | he/him) 22:58, 4 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
There will be another in January 20, 2026, it's called Free America Walkout and it even has its own website, https://www.freeameri.ca/ it is a 50501 event and it is also mentioned in the website https://www.the50501movement.org/p/free-america-walkout-jan-20 Also there is a group called The General Strike or General Strike USA and as of writing this text, on the website it has 408,665 "commited" and the remaining 10,591,335 "needed" https://generalstrikeus.com/ We need to create a article about it as early as possible, i mean USA has guam where the time zone is +10 (Wake Island is +12, but there aren't civilians), therefore it is importatnt to do it as early as possible, actually there already are news articles about it that can be used as reliable sources, here is all i found https://eu.telegram.com/story/news/politics/2026/01/12/what-is-the-free-america-walkout-more-anti-trump-protests-planned/88140963007/ https://tuscaloosathread.com/tuscaloosa-free-america-walkout/ https://www.eastcountymagazine.org/free-america-walkout-january-20 https://www.islandssounder.com/news/free-america-walkout-jan-20-at-the-courthouse/ https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/free-america-walkout-date-what-it-is-how-to-join-more-info/ar-AA1TUlkf?ocid=BingNewsVerp https://www.hercampus.com/life/whats-trending-2026-it-list/ https://theberkshireedge.com/free-america-walkout-on-jan-20/ https://fullertonobserver.com/2026/01/08/nationwide-protest-planned-for-january-20-2026-as-part-of-free-america-walkout-initiative/ https://www.peoplesworld.org/article/masses-going-to-the-streets-jan-20-in-nationwide-free-america-walkout/ https://patch.com/alabama/tuscaloosa/free-america-walkout-protest-planned-later-month-tuscaloosa https://freespeechforpeople.org/movement-for-impeaching-and-removing-trump-gains-new-momentum/ https://www.sanjuanjournal.com/life/free-america-walkout-jan-20-at-the-courthouse/ https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-protests-one-year-anniversary-womens-march-11200399 https://patch.com/alabama/tuscaloosa/new-aldi-opens-northport-walkout-protest-tuscaloosa ~2025-43053-85 (talk) 18:59, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
In my experience, it is better to start in the draft space, otherwise someone is just going to tag the page for deletion ahead of the event: Draft:Free America Walkout. ---Another Believer (Talk) 19:02, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
