Merge Proposal

[edit]
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.

I propose the Day of Action page be merged with 50501 Protests. Since all of the other protests by 50501 are covered in the protests article, it would be confusing for readers to have a singular 50501 protest to be on a separate page. Considering this, the Day of Action page is WP:REDUNDANT. Mikeycdiamond (talk) 15:31, 21 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

The 50501 protests article remains primarily focused on the February demonstrations. The page was barely updated for the March protests. If the March and April content were added, the article would be too long, in my opinion. We should be doing what we can to keep the content organized and easy to read. I would prefer to see this article kept and expanded. I would also prefer to see the 50501 protests article expanded to include March information -- many sources are shared on the article's talk page. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:32, 21 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
It is clear this organized effort is independently notable per sufficient secondary coverage. Oppose merge. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:40, 22 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
If this event has its own page, we should talk about splitting the February 5th protest from the other 50501 protests. Mikeycdiamond (talk) 16:31, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
I agree! I don't think it's practical to include all information about 50501 protests on a single page. However, my attempts at getting editors to support separate pages by month have gone no where. So, I've kept quiet and watched the "50501 protests" page remain focused on February. Acknowledging we can't crystal ball, I don't see the demonstrations stopping any time soon. So, we can either keep trying to cramming everything into one page, or we can start to organize content by month or "campaign" (in some cases, the demonstrations seem to take on a specific title, so in these cases we might use the campaign name instead of a date/month.
@Mikeycdiamond: I appreciate this discussion, but we might want to take this back over to Talk:50501 protests and discuss options for how to move forward with a wider audience. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:42, 29 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
A listicle with sections for each of the weekly protests would be ideal. If (and only if) the content for a respective section is substantial enough to warrant a split, then so be it; until then, I don't think we should have so many articles on related or similar protests. Section order

[edit]

@Jmaxfield18: I've never seen geography subsections sorted by east to west. Not my preference, but I won't revert. Thanks for making updates to this article! Curious if you are interested in weighing in above, recalling you've worked on similar protest articles. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:42, 22 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
