| Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
|---|---|---|
|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection). After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to remove obvious vandalism.
Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level
Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level
Request a specific edit be made to a protected page
Request the non-urgent protection of multiple pages that do not require immediate administrator attention

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. – LuniZunie(talk) 05:30, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Reason: High level of temporary account vandalism. Arjan866 (talk) 07:29, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Reason: High level of temporary account vandalism. ~2026-42424-42 (talk) 07:44, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Reason: Most of the article appears to fall underWP:CT/IMH. FDW777 (talk) 10:36, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Reason: WP:CT/IMH, can't be edited by non-XC editors. FDW777 (talk) 11:19, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Indefinite pending changes protection: Persistent vandalism. Netstars22 (talk to me!) 11:24, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Reason: Still non-constructive IP editing polish ✹ kurd 12:04, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Reason: Continued non-constructive IP editing polish ✹ kurd 12:05, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Indefinite create protection: Repeatedly recreated – As one user has repeatedly recreated this template under multiple names, please set to require at least WP:TPE to create if not admin only. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 14:05, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Repeated addition of unsourced info mostly by TAs. As this is related to a recent event, they're like moths to a flame. 10mmsocket (talk) 15:58, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Indefinite pending changes protection: Persistent Vandalism. Continuous vandalism by TAs and new users. I'm not sure whether pending changes protection or semi-protection is more appropriate, whatever you think is best. — Raihanur (talk) 16:10, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Reason: TMZ reported his removal from metal band Slipknot (band) last night. As there is no other source, not even a statement by the band or Wilson himself, his membership status should not be changed in accordance with WP:TMZ. Nonetheless, IP editors keep making such changes, to the band's page and their members list at List of Slipknot band members as well. So I'm requesting protection for those three, at least from IP editors please. Seelentau (talk) 16:10, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- Also, this page is having edit war. VitorFriboquen :] (Talk) 17:06, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- Ladies and gentleman, what we have here is yet another case of Wikipedia:Verifiability, not truth. Giovanni Potage (talk) 19:40, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
This continues to happen, both at Sid Wilson and List of Slipknot band members on here. Mostly by IPs. Seelentau (talk) 22:28, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Reason: Frequent vandalism from unregistered accounts and new accounts. - MJGTMKME123 16:13, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Death hoaxes not stopping. Painting17 (talk) 16:27, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – LTA target. Taking Out The Trash (talk) 17:06, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Persistent unsourced additions of a possible football transfer. • Quinn (talk • it/its) 17:19, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism and sockpuppetry. Annh07 (talk) 18:02, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- Please make this protection indefinite XXXX6666XXX (t · c) 19:06, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
User(s) blocked. I blocked a drawerful of socks and it stopped. Article is already PC protected; additional semi would only be needed if frequent disruption started up again and was hard to stop. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 22:36, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of one week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Started up again. Will revert to PC after semi expires.— rsjaffe 🗣️ 01:28, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
Reason: Probably falls under WP:ARBPIA at this point given the Dem primary. ~2026-42714-29 (talk) 18:42, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- XCP is only prescribed for articles that are primarily or wholly about the Arab-Israeli conflict. It isn't warranted by default for articles where coverage of the conflict is incidental or secondary, such as an article about an election in the US. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v Look out it's Jimothy! 18:48, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Pending changes protection: Persistent addition of unsourced/poorly-sourced material + sockpuppetry + vandalism. TA edits are rarely consecutive in this article. So I think it would be a good idea to put all non-autoconfirmed edits under review. Giovanni Potage (talk) 19:31, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – TA hopping vandal. at least 3 today. Jackjd0 (talk) 19:53, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Vandalism by WMF-banned Astrawiki3203. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 20:04, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- User:Astrawiki3203 now did sockpuppetry you mean? Loc863 (talk) 23:58, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Reason: Semi-protection A current event, I think there could be a potential edit war since this page is an ongoing event and is featured in the news on Wikipedia's Main Page Loc863 (talk) 22:23, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Declined – Pages are not protected preemptively. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 22:29, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Rsjaffe I see plenty of reverts of edits made by TAs/non-registred accounts in the recent history, I think protection might actually be necessary (for now). Giovanni Potage (talk) 23:04, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- I see some vandalism, too, but as a proportion of all edits, I don't think it's high enough to protect. This is a very highly-scrutinized page, so I don't think vandalism will sneak by, and I count 9 reverts in that past 24 hours, against maybe 150 edits, so the rate isn't higher than "normal". — rsjaffe 🗣️ 23:16, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- Lets just see soon Loc863 (talk) 23:57, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- Sure, and if things get significantly worse, protection would be useful. That's why I declined with "not preemptive". We wait until things are bad enough to require protection before we protect a page. There's TAs contributing useful stuff to the page, and we'll lose all those people with protection. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 00:08, 2 August 2026 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level
Unprotection: 8 years have passed since this should have been an issue, seeing how there's been no disruption basically on the other lists of deaths of Wikipedians by year in more recent years, unprotection should be okay. MakaylaHippo1998 (talk) 07:07, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
- See the instructions. You're supposed to contact the protecting admin before making a request here. In this case that admin is Oshwah, who is active today. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 14:34, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
Unprotection: Article was protected in 2021 over sockpuppetry and edit warring on subject's DOB. The issue seems to have long since been settled, so there does not appear to be any need to keep the article protected any longer. Ten Pound Hammer (they/them) • (What did I screw up now?) 16:49, 1 August 2026 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page
Bahraini Foreign Minister reported 3 deaths and 465 injuries related to the Iran war, more than the 2 deaths and 51 injuries on the page. ~2026-39728-22 (talk) 20:13, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Not done - Completely separate from the lack of source, this would require a discussion you can't participate in. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v Look out it's Jimothy! 23:12, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
