This is a collection of discussions on the deletion and merging of articles related to China. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|China|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to China. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Asia.

- Merge Generally I am in favour of reducing article glut on "individually named animals". In this case lumping them would seem slightly less organic than with the existing double-dip pandas, but they are a couple and could well be covered in one article. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 11:33, 11 August 2026 (UTC)

Hoax, likely original research, no source to prove it exists, the only source in the article is a passage introducing the pathway of a hiking route that didn't even mention the building. Also sounds unreasonable to call an abandoned house a 'hotel'. Chinese Wikipedia has just deleted this article. Aqurs1 (talk) 11:11, 9 August 2026 (UTC)

- Redirect to Xichong, Shenzhen (with the history preserved under the redirect) per Wikipedia:Deletion policy#Alternatives to deletion. I added information about the house to Xichong, Shenzhen. Here are sources I found about the subject that discuss the house but don't provide enough significant coverage to support a standalone article:
- Zhong, Qiulan 钟秋兰 (2009-05-15). "竖起耳朵 倾听大海的声音" [Prick up your ears and listen to the sound of the sea.]. Jiangxi Daily (in Chinese). p. C3.
From Google Translate: "Backpacker’s Journey: Traversing the Coastline—Sea on one side, rock on the other. A coastal trek offers both the gentle beauty of the ocean and the sense of accomplishment that comes from conquering massive boulders and cliffs on foot. Hikers, pack your bags and set off; the roar of the ocean waves will sing right beside you... Destination: The Dongchong-Xichong Coastline in Shenzhen. This route is the most beautiful and classic coastal trek in Shenzhen, offering stunning scenery and a manageable difficulty level."
From Google Translate: ""After bypassing the coastal fault line on the hillside, we made a mistake: we descended back to the beach. In reality, we should have continued along the mountainside. We ended up at the base of the cliff directly beneath the house and were forced to climb back up, as there was absolutely no way forward along the beach." This was the spot the guidebook warned was the easiest place to go wrong. Sure enough, we took the wrong turn, descended to the beach, reached the cliff beneath the house, and had to climb back up. We had suspected we were off-track while walking, but we were reluctant to turn back after the arduous effort of navigating the boulder field behind us. A few young people were following us; they didn't know the way either but had seen other hikers coming from that direction. Seeing us ahead, they let us act as their pathfinding vanguard. "After rounding the landslide area on the slope, a narrow path—about one meter wide—appears. The house is right there, grandly named the 'Sunshine Holiday Hotel'." That was what the guidebook said. Shortly after we climbed back up and rounded that landslide section, we spotted three hikers walking along the beach at the foot of the opposite mountain; we even excitedly talked about catching up to and passing them. Yet, strangely enough, we continued trekking through the forest and never encountered the beach path or that "Sunshine Holiday Hotel" again—not until we reached the vast fishponds of Dongchong Village."

From Google Translate: "After rounding the crest of a landslide on the hillside, a one-meter-wide path came into view. The building located here bore the grand name "Sunshine Holiday Hotel." I had originally expected Dongchong Beach to lie directly below the building, but instead, I found only a desolate, rocky stretch of shore; a small iron tower stood on a headland further ahead, marking the true location of Dongchong. Fortunately, a proper path began here—smooth and wide—so there was no longer any need to expend energy hopping across rocks. Reaching the Sunshine Holiday Hotel meant completing about two-thirds of the entire journey; the remaining section, thanks to the good trail conditions, could be covered in under an hour."

I propose redirecting to Provinces of China (specifically [[Provinces of China#List of provinces|]]) because WP:NOTDB. This just lists Chinese provinces by a numeral characteristic, which is not allowed on Wikipedia, as it is not encyclopedic. WP:NOPAGE also applies, since this could be included as a table. For a previous case which closed as merge, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of states and union territories of India by area. If this closes merge too, I will nominate every similar list of subdivisions by area. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 17:54, 5 August 2026 (UTC)

- Hi HerrHeulsuse, as I've noted a few times already, this kind of information is in fact allowed. It's not true that numerical characteristics are not allowed on Wikipedia, and provinces' major statistics like this are certainly encyclopedic (which is why they are also included in the main provinces list). Moreover this list and the proposed target page are not about the same thing, this is for Provincial-level divisions of China instead. However this is in fact mostly duplicative to that, so a merge there would be appropriate. Can you please also double-check the source of these pages' data – the values are not the same for both. Do not just nominate every similar list though just because you think pages that numerical data is not allowed, you need to ensure that another page actually has the information already or that the information can actually be merged appropriately, which is not always the case. [Sherman Chung's "Thunder Party": A Beautiful Voice Rediscovered]. New Monday (in Chinese). 2008-12-12. p. P194.
From Google Translate: "Whether as an entertainer or a singer, the biggest fear is being typecast. Sherman, who was labeled a "rock chick" right from her debut, takes a very different approach with her third album, *Thunder Party*. The 10-track album features an even mix of fast and slow songs, revealing that Sherman possesses a wonderful vocal quality for ballads. Beyond the two radio singles "Wild Lily" (野百合) and "Red Brick" (红砖), two other mid-tempo ballads—"Best Time" and "Eyes Don't Lie" (眼睛不说谎)—truly put her vocal skills to the test; such engaging mid-tempo ballads are rare finds these days, and Sherman’s performance is surprisingly impressive. She hasn't neglected upbeat tracks to keep her fans happy, either: "Shut Up" features a jazzy vibe, with a laid-back delivery expressing a strong-willed woman's views on modern men. Also worth mentioning is "Multitasking" (一心二用), which uses an R&B style to explore the perspective of choosing a partner. All 10 tracks are enjoyable, though if one were to nitpick, there is still room for improvement in terms of vocal abandon and the transition between low and high registers; the backing vocals are occasionally too loud, sometimes overpowering Sherman's high notes. Recommended tracks: "Multitasking" (一心二用), "Shut Up""
- "《Thunder Party》". East Touch (in Chinese). 2008-12-09. p. B92.
From Google Translate: "I had expected an album where uptempo tracks made up over 70% of the content; as it turned out, they account for only about 40%, which was admittedly a bit disappointing. Sherman is one of the few female vocalists capable of mastering a wide range of uptempo songs—she particularly shines with heavy beats—so high expectations were inevitable. Regarding the ballads: "Eyes Don't Lie" (眼睛不说谎), "Red Brick" (红砖), "Wild Lily" (野百合), and "Memories of the Breakup" (分手的记忆) are catchy, sing-along-friendly tracks that pose no difficulty for her. "Can Be Bought" (买得到) and "Best Time" are steeped in R&B vibes; Sherman’s ability to nail the rhythm in these tracks is truly impressive. "Eighty Commandments" (八十诫), "Tiny" (细细粒), and "Multitasking" (一心二用) stand out as her finest uptempo numbers—featuring powerful rhythms and crisp enunciation, they showcase her playing with the beat rather than merely chasing it. These are outstanding tracks."

From Google Translate: "Sherman Chung – *Thunder Party* (CD+DVD) Following the impressive success of her debut album, Sherman shifts gears with this new release, focusing primarily on ballads. The melodious track "Wild Lily" (Ye Bai He) has garnered critical acclaim, successfully helping her move away from her previous "dance-pop" image. Other tracks include "Eighty Commandments" (Ba Shi Jie) and "Can Be Bought" (Mai De Dao). A DVD featuring the music video for the lead single is included. Rating: 80/100 (A successful transformation)"
- "鐘舒漫《Thunder Party》" [Sherman Chung's "Thunder Party"]. Hong Kong Economic Times (in Chinese). 2008-12-01. p. C3.
The review notes: "鐘舒漫《Thunder Party》。鐘舒漫初出道時已憑奔放唱腔及歌路,唱出自家風格,新碟《Thunder Party》不再偏重快歌舞曲,快慢參半。主打歌《野百合》證明她駕馭抒情歌,感情力度十足;《紅磚》的高音演繹也算流暢穩定;唱回 groovy 的《買得到》,她更游刃有餘;而《八十誡》的有型任性、《細細粒》的性感媚惑,足見 Sherman 可塑性不俗。"
From Google Transalte: "Sherman Chung – *Thunder Party*. Sherman Chung established a unique style right from her debut with her spirited vocals and repertoire. Her new album, *Thunder Party*, moves away from a heavy focus on uptempo dance tracks, offering a mix of fast and slow songs. The lead single "Wild Lily" (野百合) demonstrates her ability to handle ballads with deep emotional resonance, while her delivery of high notes in "Red Brick" (紅磚) is smooth and stable. She is even more at ease with the groovy "Can Be Bought" (買得到). Furthermore, the stylish, rebellious attitude in "Eighty Commandments" (八十誡) and the sultry allure of "Tiny" (細細粒) showcase Sherman's impressive versatility."

From Google Translate: "Sherman Chung, a rising star heavily promoted by Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG), releases her new album *Thunder Party* today. Known for an image that is both sexy and wholesome, Sherman sports various looks on the album cover—ranging from a sexy "little wildcat" and a wild British rocker to a trendy party girl—while showing off her 43-inch legs to full effect. Beyond the high-energy tracks that are her specialty, Sherman—who possesses a unique vocal style—takes on a new level of difficulty with this album; the high notes in the new song "Red Brick" (*Hong Zhuan*) push her vocal limits to the max, earning high praise from musicians for her precise execution of the challenging high-register passages."

From Google Translate: "Sherman Chung released her new album "Thunder Party" yesterday. Sherman dressed up carefully for a radio interview and revealed that she will be celebrating the release of her third album with friends soon. Sherman joked that her mother is the best salesperson for her new album: "My mom always buys a lot of CDs, and when her auntie friends come over, she sells them to them. She also puts up my posters and news reports around the house so her friends know about me!" Sherman revealed that she spent a lot of time practicing her new song "Red Brick," hoping to become more and more confident. Her company will hold a grand new song release party for her on the 5th of next month, where she will invite friends from the entertainment industry to attend the party in school uniforms and celebrate together."

I do not see significant independent coverage establishing WP:NORG/WP:GNG. The article relies mainly on passing or primary-adjacent material about the Global English Test. The only substantial independent source I found is a Fair Trade Commission case about misleading advertising, which verifies controversy but not standalone organizational notability. - Comment: this survived the first nomination in 2011 with "no consensus" (and very little traffic) at a time of lower inclusion standards. (No opinion.) WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 15:56, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
- Delete per the lack of significant coverage in reliable sources. In my searches for sources, I found passing mentions like this article. I did not find significant coverage about the National Development Initiatives Institute (NDI; Chinese: 中華綜合發展研究院). Cunard (talk) 08:12, 20 July 2026 (UTC)

Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, — Chris Woodrich (talk) 00:59, 4 August 2026 (UTC) - Delete. It seems this institute does exist (found the official website ) but it is quote small. I can only find brief mentions and the sites I do found are difficult to understand if they are reliable . Maybe someone who speaks the language would have better luck finding sources, but I don't think this is notable for English wikipedia. Ajheindel (talk) 01:51, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
