- @Smasongarrison: It should be Category:Mass murders by ideology per the other subcategories of Category:Mass murder. Mclay1 (talk) 01:07, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
- Good catch. I wasn't sure if it should be plural or not. :) SMasonGarrison 01:10, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose rename: The rename is inappropriate for most of the mass killings on Wikipedia, "murder" is a specific crime, it does not include all killings. A very large proportion of mass killings on Wikipedia occurred in active war zones, most definitions of murder exclude warfare. Even if the victims are civilians, very few war crimes are classified as "murder", these crimes have other names. Murder is also usually a crime at the national or state level, so given the only current subcategories are "by regime" the killers are the same people who wrote the laws around murder, and would determine that their own actions are legal. Late Night Coffee (ping me) 04:37, 4 May 2026 (UTC)

- Propose deleting Category:Far-left politicians in the United Kingdom (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Nominator's rationale: There is no standard definition of far-left that works for an encyclopedia. Omar Fateh is categorized as far-left while being a member of the Democratic Party. Joseph Stalin is as well. This underscores that this lightly-populated category tree is subjective. User:Namiba 21:13, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Keep. I'd oppose deleting this without also deleting Category:Far-right politicians, which has the same issue. They're equally subjective and it makes no sense to have one but not the other-though on their own merits I'm not sure if we should delete either. Can't we just restrict to those who RS describe as far-left or far-right? PARAKANYAA (talk) 21:22, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

Category:Fiction about Neo-Nazism
[edit]- Propose merging Category:Fiction about Neo-Nazism to Category:Neo-Nazism in popular culture
- Nominator's rationale: Originally this contained the subcategories "films about..." "television about..." and "television episodes about..." However, this was inappropriate for the fiction subcategory, as quite a few entries in those subcategories were not fictional. E.g. Blood in the Face, Louis and the Nazis, Accidental Courtesy: Daryl Davis, Race & America. As is there are only 3 subcategories so I think the existence of a small fiction subcategory does not help navigation. PARAKANYAA (talk) 21:05, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

Category:Name changes due to the George Floyd protests
[edit]- Propose Deleting Category:Name changes due to the George Floyd protests
- Nominator's rationale: the spirit of WP:SHAREDNAME, WP:NOTDICTIONARY, and WP:NONDEFINING
- During 2020, a number of institutions revisited the racist meanings behind their long established names and finally updated them to be more representative. The old name is often in the intro with maybe a sentence on the rename but that doesn't seem defining as the actual topics have nothing in common creating a jumble of articles unlikely to aid navigation. This includes the Thick-billed longspur bird (née McCown's longspur), Hotel 24 South (Stonewall Jackson Hotel), America's Best Chew (Redman Chewing Tobacco), The Chicks (Dixie Chicks), Edy's Pie (Eskimo Pie), John R. Lewis High School (Robert E. Lee High School), and Wunaamin Miliwundi Ranges (King Leopold Mountains). This could still work if we had enough articles specifically on the name changes but we only have Cleveland Indians name and logo controversy and Washington Redskins name controversy while the third one, 2020 Rhode Island Question 1, doesn't mention Mr. Floyd. We already have List of name changes due to the George Floyd protests for any reader interested in this topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:34, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Delete, the list suffices. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:12, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Delete Textbook failure of WP:NONDEF. The list is all that is permitted under Wikipedia guidelines. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 09:49, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Delete I would also argue this over simplifies cause and effect in some of these cases. The movement to rename some of these things pre-dates May 2020 in many cases.John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:44, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
Category:Edinburgh Festival performers
[edit]- Propose Deleting Category:Edinburgh Festival performers
- Propose Deleting Category:Edinburgh Comedy Festival
- Nominator's rationale: textbook WP:PERFCAT and WP:NONDEFINING
- Greg Davies, Hannah Gadsby, and Space Cowboy are stars who have performed in many venues, including the the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In practice, the comedy subcategory is also a performance category which is not remotely defining for Joan Rivers, John Hegley, or Imran Yusuf. No objections to list articles but this leads to category clutter because prominent performers are prominent because they get booked for many performances. - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:09, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

- Propose renaming Category:Maritime incidents in the 2020s (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) to Category:2020s maritime incidents
- Nominator's rationale: Hi! I originally made a CfDS under C2C, my initial rationale being "Per subcats such as Maritime incidents in the 2000s". However, I later regretted the proposal per parent categories such as 12th-century disasters. Anyway, I have two options to help harmonize the "maritime incidents by year/decade/century/whatever" subcats. If one is chosen, the other can't be chosen: - OpalYosutebito 『talk』 『articles I want to eat』 23:40, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- Pinging @Marcocapelle, who agreed on moving this to the full CFD :D - OpalYosutebito 『talk』 『articles I want to eat』 23:42, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- Meh... Why not, but on the other hand, the immediate parent category for the yearly cats are subcats of Category:Transport disasters by year which are all of the form Category:Transport disasters in XXXX. I guess we could change that too. I'm not sure I see a benefit either way. Pichpich (talk) 03:27, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose - as has been pointed out, these categories follow the format of the parent category, as do those for aviation and rail, which are not being proposed to be changed. There is no benefit that I can see in this proposal at all. Mjroots (talk) 04:43, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Comment, maybe the format of Category:Maritime incidents in 1900 has deliberately been chosen because, e.g. in "1900 maritime incidents", 1900 can also be read as a countable number instead of a year. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:19, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose - The most common category naming format used worldwide starts with what the event is, followed by the year. Making changes to the format of these subcategories would require almost every single other subcategory title on Wikipedia to be changed to standardise the format. There is no benefit in this proposal to change the category naming format that I can see, as it creates lots of unnecessary work without any real gain.Dreamweaverjack (talk) 05:23, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- So you're going with option 1? - OpalYosutebito 『talk』 『articles I want to eat』 16:45, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Sounds like busy work to me, wasting a lot of people's time if it goes ahead. There seems to be no benefit. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:58, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Graeme Bartlett I edited the proposal a while back today. There are supposed to be two options - OpalYosutebito 『talk』 『articles I want to eat』 22:32, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Comment - for clarity, I've removed the speedy rename proposals from the century categories. As a full discussion is now taking place, that overrides speedy. Mjroots (talk) 17:16, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks! Another comment: I've split up the proposal into two options, as I tried to do yesterday - OpalYosutebito 『talk』 『articles I want to eat』 18:47, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: merge, per WP:OCYEAR, mostly isolated one- or two-articles categories, this is not helpful for navigation. This is a complex one. Only the first 13 nominated categories contain articles about Sicily proper. The other nominated categories only contain articles about Malta, which was at the time a vassal state of the Kingdom of Sicily. After the proposed merge the articles about Malta will still be in the century categories of the Kingdom of Sicily. If there is consensus to merge to Europe instead of to Italy then by all means but I do not expert so considering previous discussions. Marcocapelle (talk) 18:06, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- Manually Merge per WP:NARROWCAT. As always, no objection to future recreation if we get enough contents that this granularity would help readers, but there would need to be scores of new articles to warrant this. - RevelationDirect (talk) 20:54, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
*To Italy, not to Europe. No idea why the nom suddenly switches from "Italy" cats to "Europe" cats, but in any case, all of them should be merged to the Italy tree (which is obviusly part of the Europe tree as well). Fram (talk) 08:23, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Fram: as said, the larger part of the nomination concerns articles about Malta. Should articles about Malta also appear under Italy? Marcocapelle (talk) 11:12, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Marcocapelle, my apologies, I clearly didn't read the nom with the necessary care before my !vote. I see now what you mean, and that you took a lot of care in how to split the two groups. Fram (talk) 11:15, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

- Oppose - Italy did not exist before 1861. We do not rewrite history. Mjroots (talk) 16:30, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Italy as a geographic, cultural, historical and ethnic region definitely existed, or we wouldn't have the 1849 "Belgium, the Rhine, Italy, Greece, and the Shores and Islands of the Mediterranean Volume 1" or he 1847 "Sights in Italy. With Some Account of the Present State of Music and the Sister Arts in that Country" (yep, country), or the 1766 "Letters from Italy, Describing the Customs and Manners of that Country, in the Years 1765, and 1766" (again, country!) or an 1859 book on the history(!) of Italy. We have things like an 1826 opera titled "The Turk in Italy", we have Italians writing "Storia d'Italia dal 1789 al 1814" in 1824 or "Viaggi in Italia" in 1832, there even was an Italian war before it apparently existed, "Memorie della guerra d'Italia degli anni 1848-1849 di un veterano austriaco", we have "Italia sacra" in 1721, we have an early 18th century "Giornale de' letterati d'Italia", we have "Annali d'Italia, dal principio dell'era volgare fino all'anno MDCCL." in 1752, and so on. But no, Italy didn't exist. Fram (talk) 17:39, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Fram: That Italy is not Italy. Mjroots (talk) 17:51, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- In most of these books and the like, "Italy" is about the large region, not about the HRE subentity. The sources between 1801 and 1861 especially show a continuation of the general use of the term. Fram (talk) 17:57, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Fram: That Italy is not Italy. Mjroots (talk) 17:51, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

- Nominator's rationale: Highly overlapping, we don't have a Codices tree as far as I can see SMasonGarrison 15:30, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- Just delete, duplicate of Category:Serbian manuscripts. Marcocapelle (talk) 18:24, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- Totally oppose, keep and leave it as it is, Category:Medieval Serbian codices refers specifically to codices produced in medieval Serbia. In contrast, Category:Medieval Serbian literature covers Serbian manuscripts generally, including works that are not codices. The distinction is therefore precise and meaningful, rather than redundant. --Palatinosunriser (talk) 20:59, 2 August 2026 (UTC)

Category:S Club 7
[edit]- Propose renaming Category:S Club 7 to Category:S Club
- Nominator's rationale: There's a lot going on this category about the pop group S Club. There's their activities as S Club 7, which includes one album as "S Club" after a member leaves. There's the activity of their spinoff kids group S Club 8. There's the activities of S Club Allstars, which is a combination of the previous two groups. All of it occurs under the umbrella of "S Club," which should thus be the category title. Mike Selinker (talk) 02:56, 2 August 2026 (UTC)

Category:People with FOO disorders
[edit]- Nominator's rationale: There is no need to isolate these people based on the symptoms they experience. It doesn't serve navigation and in my view is problably contrary to WP:EGRSD in regard to disability. SMasonGarrison 21:38, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- This is not based on "symptoms", it is an entire classification of mental disorders that affect brain development (neurodevelopment) and onset in the early developmental period (childhood, often defined as before age 18). See also existing categories Category:People with genetic disorders, Category:People with rare diseases, Category:People with mood disorders, Category:People with personality disorders, etc. Shocksingularity (talk) 21:44, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- Propose merging Category:People with psychotic disorders to Category:People with psychotic disorder
- Nominator's rationale: Highly overlapping categories. SMasonGarrison 21:27, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- The newly-created category is highly redundant with the long existing Category:People with psychotic disorder. Category:People with psychotic disorder is being used to describe people with documented psychosis, while the new category is being treated as a parent category that I think is trying to isolate specific mental diagnoses based on symptoms. SMasonGarrison 21:29, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- As creator of the new category, I would merge the other way. "Psychotic disorders" is a broader, recognized classification of different disorders that cause psychosis, such as schizophrenia and delusional disorder - see BlockL1‑6A2 in the ICD-11 and the "Schizophrenia Spectrum and Other Psychotic Disorders" chapter of the DSM-V. "Psychotic disorder" implies one specific disorder, but there is no disorder with that name.
- I would also support merging the categories and renaming to "people with psychosis", although this risks implying that people listed are currently undergoing psychosis. Shocksingularity (talk) 21:39, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- I just don't see the benefit to categorizing/isolating people to this level of detail for their disabilities. It seems contrary to the spirit of EGRS. SMasonGarrison 21:41, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- I am trying moreso to group categories of similar disabilities so pages like Category:People by medical or psychological condition and Category:People with disabilities aren't flooded with a million subcategories. The people are all still in their original categories, I'm just grouping some of the categories to reduce clutter. For example, people with autism are still in the Category:Autistic people, it's just that Category:Autistic people is now under Category:People with neurodevelopmental disorders instead of directly under Category:People with mental disorders. Shocksingularity (talk) 21:51, 1 August 2026 (UTC)

- Comment Would it be appropriate to add Category:People with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder by nationality and its subcategories to this nomination? I don't see the relevance of a connection between a learning disorder and one's nationality. And, in fact, ADHD doesn't seem defining at all. I know many people with diagnosed ADHD (including myself) and it certainly isn't how they would like to be labeled. And they certainly wouldn't consider it a "disability". Liz Read! Talk! 03:38, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Liz: it is probably better to start a new discussion for that, as your rationale about ADHD seems to be more specific than what is discussed here. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:20, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- I have ADHD myself and would consider it a disability. It defines me a lot, because it affects how my brain works and almost every aspect of my life. Most of my friends with ADHD also consider it a disability.
- I added the nationality subcats because the "people with ADHD" category was being very large. (See WP:EGRS/I). I also noticed that the "autistic people" category had nationality subcats so why not ADHD? Shocksingularity (talk) 21:20, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion, Marcocapelle. I'm not going to get into a debate here. I just want to remind editors that we are discussing categorizing human beings, WP:BLP, with health-related categories that can hold stigmas and can be based on private information. Everyone categorized in them has to be based on reliable, verifiable sources and not conjecture, blogs or popular magazines. Liz Read! Talk! 02:48, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Merge Category:People with psychotic disorders to Category:People with mental disorders, redundant category layer with only two subcategories. Considering its category description I would also propose renaming Category:People with psychotic disorder to Category:People who had a psychosis, or perhaps delete it altogether. Category:Works about cattle

- Propose merging Category:Works about foxes to Category:Works about animals
- Nominator's rationale: merge, redundant category layer with only one subcategory. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:16, 11 July 2026 (UTC)
- Merge to Category:Cattle in popular culture and Category:Foxes in popular culture as redundant categories that I had to connect to to find them. Alternatively, reverse merge those categories to these ones in line with "X in fiction" precedents. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 22:05, 11 July 2026 (UTC)
- The subcategories are already in the popular culture tree because they are under e.g. Category:Fictional cattle - Category:Anthropomorphic cattle. Although I can imagine that we might disentangle that. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:31, 12 July 2026 (UTC)
- Note these were only recently created by @Johnpacklambert and while I don't believe it is good practice to leave them in this state, I'm curious what the intent was in creating them and if there is further work intended. As is I support merging, though as noted they may not need to be and can just be deleted. WinstonDewey (talk) 20:35, 13 July 2026 (UTC)

- The intent was to move articles that are about works out of the Fictional cattle category. There is a very large number of works miscategorized as if they are about characters. - Support 1st, oppose 2nd The idea of "works about cattle" is not defining, but "works about foxes" is. It is fairly common to see a work that is, specifically, about a fox. I am more dubious about the subcategory combinations of "anthropomorphic+species" (what usually matters is either or, not necessarily both) but that is not what is up for debate here. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 07:21, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
Category:Pages with citation errors
[edit]- Propose merging Category:Pages with citation errors to Category:Pages with reference errors
- Nominator's rationale: The former is a parent category for
malformed <ref> syntax
according to the description, while the latter hosts such pages directly. Category:Pages with Cite taxon errors should probably be moved to Category:Articles with incorrect citation syntax, but having the rest entirely separate from the other categories seems confusing. 1234qwer1234qwer4 16:57, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Category:Hard Rock Cafe
[edit]- Current parent: Hard Rock Cafe
- Proposed parent: Hard Rock International
- Propose renaming Category:Hard Rock Cafe to Category:Hard Rock International
- Nominator's rationale: Alongside changing the parent page for this category from Hard Rock Cafe to Hard Rock International. My reasoning for it; Places in the category, such as Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City, are entirely separate from the cafes; in fact, that location does not have a Hard Rock Cafe. Neither does the former Hard Rock Casino Vancouver or Hard Rock Stadium. The article I'm working on in my sandbox also does not have a Hard Rock Cafe. Making the category based strictly on the restaurant division is potentially confusing, and it would be better to rename it this way to better reflect and match the pages in this category. Hard Rock Hotel and Casino itself operates separately from the restaurant division. Aspifi (talk | contributions) 15:02, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- New Main Article/Rename The nominator is correct, while HRI is over both the restaurant chain and the casino chain, this category is mostly the latter so it makes sense our naming catch up to the actual scope here. (Note: I removed Universal Orlando from this cat; their presence as a concession does not define the overall park.)- RevelationDirect (talk) 21:07, 2 August 2026 (UTC)

- Propose renaming Category:Buildings and structures in Tokyo by city to Category:Buildings and structures in Tokyo by populated place
- Propose renaming Category:Buildings and structures in Wakayama Prefecture by city to Category:Buildings and structures in Wakayama Prefecture by populated place

There's also the question of Hokkaido, which has both buildings and structures in Hokkaido by city and by town; should those be merged into buildings and structures in Hokkaido by populated place also to keep consistency? QuietHere (talk | contributions) 14:53, 1 August 2026 (UTC)

Category:History of the Jews in the Mashriq
[edit]- Nominator's rationale: A similar category for the Mashriq does not exist, which can be verified with a look through Category:Mashriq. There is no evidence that this category should exist either, since it only contains sub-categories. For comparision, there is no Category:History of the Jews in the Great Lakes region, despite Jewish people also being notably present there. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 14:18, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- Keep BOTH categories because (1) Any category does not owe its existence to an article that has not been written yet since categories are often created before and precede articles. (2) Paradoxically, part of the nominator's "rational" actually supports a small parent category that is made up of WP:N sub-categories, this helps readers and web searches finding such categories much easier had the parent category not existed. (3) The nominator, or anyone else, is free to create an article about Jews in the Great Lakes region since WP:NOTPAPER and the absence of such an article until now is not a reason to push out and destroy other helpful and well thought out categories and articles that exist because editors have taken the time to create them. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! IZAK (talk) 02:33, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- Delete, largely overlapping with Middle East categories. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:41, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Marcocapelle: Would you care to elaborate please because your reason makes no sense. Are you implying that Jewish history topics and categories by city/country/region/continent should all be deleted because they are "largely overlapping categories"? Jews are a small minority, but very WP:N community of people and this category like many others about Jews and Jewish history is a valid recognition that they have a long history and existence in any city/region/country/continent such as in the Mashriq and other regions so-named in Arabic and accepted in English as well. IZAK (talk) 21:41, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Merge because Jewish History is an important encyclopedic angle just like the history of other extreme global minority populations. I think the sparseness of the topic is a sign that there should be more editing activity here, not less. yonkeltron (talk) 23:19, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- IZAK asked me to comment here. Jews and Judaism in the Mashriq seems to me like something someone would reasonably look up; the fact that we don't have a main article at that level is a very weak argument against keeping that category. This seems to me to group a fair number of mutually related articles, which is the primary purpose of a category. The absence of a "main" article is not normally a reason to get rid of a category that might be useful to someone navigating the cat hierarchy looking for material on a particular subject. - Jmabel | Talk 23:43, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

- Propose deleting Category:Antisemitic political parties in the United States (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Nominator's rationale: There was an entire discussion held that forbid categorizing groups or people as antisemitic . The category description of Category:Antisemitism, of which this is a child category, in fact says "It must not include articles about individuals or groups that are allegedly antisemitic.". This is a MOS:LABEL issue and cannot be presented this way. PARAKANYAA (talk) 23:48, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
- Strong Keep These categories are limited to certain countries in Europe and the United States; they are not categories related to the controversial Middle Eastern anti-Zionist political parties. In particular, in the German Empire and the Weimar Republic, "antisemitic political parties" were a type of political party. ProgramT (talk) 00:35, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- If we do not create only categories related to non-European, non-American parties, there is absolutely no reason to delete existing categories. ProgramT (talk) 00:39, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- (Note, this is the category creator). So what? Source? And why would that make it any better? The consensus is that the antisemitism tree "must not include articles about individuals or groups that are allegedly antisemitic", at all. It is a MOS:LABEL violation. PARAKANYAA (talk) 00:45, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- However, the concept of "antisemitic political parties" is more nuanced; rather than mere slanderous labeling, there were actually many political parties in 19th‑century Europe that directly referred to themselves as "antisemitic political party". ProgramT (talk) 00:56, 1 August 2026 (UTC)

- However, I believe it is unfair that while there is almost no controversy regarding political party categories related to other forms of discrimination, deletion discussions are frequently held regarding categories associated with Jews and antisemitism. I, too, believe that anti-Zionism and antisemitism are distinct, and this category does not apply to articles that express hostility solely toward Israel, rather than toward ethnic Jews. ProgramT (talk) 01:37, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- I did not mention Zionism in this conversation. That is not the issue, the issue is MOS:LABEL and our longstanding consensus that the antisemitism tree "must not include articles about individuals or groups that are allegedly antisemitic", at all. There is no objective way to determine it ; why wouldn't we include anti-Zionist groups, by the scope this category is using? Feel free to suggest deletion for the other bias categories applying to groups or people - I will support the deletion noms. PARAKANYAA (talk) 02:21, 1 August 2026 (UTC)

- Strong Keep These categories are limited to certain countries in Europe and the United States; they are not categories related to the controversial Middle Eastern anti-Zionist political parties. Category:Scholars of ancient Greek history
[edit]- Propose merging Category:Scholars of ancient Greek history to Category:Historians of ancient Greece
- Nominator's rationale: WP:OVERLAPCAT and, unlike other Historians of Foo categories, the parent category is currently empty, with just subcats. Brandmeister talk 22:29, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
- Merge, looks like a very similar scope. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:42, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- Comment: there are two possible issues with this proposal. One is that "historians of ancient Greece" sounds like it would mean the same thing as "ancient Greek historians", although its contents are modern historians and scholars. This would likely cause confusion over what articles should be included or excluded, and it would be a candidate for renaming to something less ambiguous. Secondly, not all of the persons in this category are identified as "historians". Some are scholars in other fields relating to ancient Greece, such as linguists, mythographers, classicists, etc. They fit loosely under the current category name, but would clearly be excluded under the proposed name. Is there any benefit to narrowing the scope of the category? Remember, the category name will tend to govern what is added to or removed from the category, rather than the intent of the persons involved in this discussion. P Aculeius (talk) 14:03, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- If an article is not about a historian it should be in neither Category:Scholars of ancient Greek history nor Category:Historians of ancient Greece. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:03, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- Not all notable scholars of history are historians. Some are antiquarians, linguists, philosophers, classicists, etc. Being a scholar of history does not make one a historian. P Aculeius (talk) 11:02, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- Ok, then purge non-historians. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:00, 2 August 2026 (UTC)

- No, the scope of Category:Historians of ancient Greece would be unchanged, it remains for historians only. When merging it would not make sense to add articles about non-historians to a historians category. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:38, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

Category:Books about white nationalism in the United States
[edit]- Nominator's rationale: With only a few articles in each category, and most of the books in the parent also focusing on white nationalism in the United States, and most of the articles in this category also focusing on white nationalism outside of the United States, I don't think it is worth making this separation on the book level. - Rename to Category:Dutch rock music as it's the dominant naming convention for subcategories of Category:Rock music by country, but the article titles in that category have plenty of examples of the naming convention Rock music in Belarus, Rock music in the Netherlands, Rock music in Germany, etc., which would be preferable across the board for article and categories as it avoids the ambiguity of Belarusian, Dutch, German, etc., possibly referring to the languages rather than the countries. Ham II (talk) 16:08, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- Rename to Category:Dutch rock music per the current practice at Category:Rock music by country. Οἶδα (talk) 21:50, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- Reconsider names. The predominant format of the articles in Category:Rock music by country is 'Rock music in XXX' eg Rock music in the Netherlands (as Ham II observes, Dutch rock music is ambiguous, as it might mean the language). So I would suggest a rename of all the articles to 'Rock music in XXX' followed by speedy renames of the corresponding categories. Aemulandus (talk) 11:23, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
Dutch rock music is ambiguous, as it might mean the language
- Language is distinguished by the addition of "-language", as in "Dutch-language". If we're going to say "Dutch [blank]" can mean "in the Dutch language" then the same could be said for the sheer thousands of uses of "[Insert nationality that is synonymous with a language here]" throughout the entire category system. That is not an issue we're going to solve in this discussion about a single music genre category. Οἶδα (talk) 18:19, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
- Good point. I now agree that Category:Dutch rock music would be a speedy via WP:C2C but equally Category:Rock music in the Netherlands is a speedy via WP:C2D. Aemulandus (talk) 12:57, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- I am also fine with Category:Rock music in the Netherlands, am only opposing Category:Netherlands rock music. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:24, 1 August 2026 (UTC)

- Propose deleting Category:Portal-Class Fishing pages (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Propose deleting Category:Portal-Class Transhumanism pages (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Propose deleting Category:Portal-Class Festivals pages (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Propose deleting Category:Portal-Class deaf pages (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Nominator's rationale: Portal:Country music, the prime eligible page to belong to the first category, was deleted in 2019 per Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Country music. UnitedStatesian created this category in 2021, stating that they were recreating it, but I can't trace anything that ever populated it. – Fayenatic London 09:32, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- Disclosure: I have been speedily deleting other portal-class page categories that were empty after portals were deleted at MFD. I'm just bringing this one for discussion as it was (re?)created after the deletion of the portal. – Fayenatic London 09:32, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- I have added similar cases following Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Fishing and Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Transhumanism. I could not trace any former contents for Festivals or deaf portals. – Fayenatic London 09:45, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- I think I was worrying about nothing here, as UnitedStatesian may have had "recreate cat" popping up as a default edit summary at the time, cf. . – Fayenatic London 21:13, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- Delete per WP:G8, pages dependent on a non-existent or deleted page. If there is an active portal, I'll defer to the editors maintaining it what cats are appropriate but, without a portal, these are not needed. - RevelationDirect (talk) 21:27, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- No objection to Deleteing all of these; my (re)creations dated to when the various corresponding WikiProject templates gave an error if the project's Portal category did not exist; once the portal is deleted, if the Project template is corrected the errors go away. See {{WikiProject New Zealand}} for a project template that has a live portal and so has a link from the template documentation and a populated portal category.UnitedStatesian (talk) 23:40, 2 August 2026 (UTC)

- Propose merging Category:1820s in Afghanistan to Category:19th century in Afghanistan
- Propose merging Category:1823 establishments in Afghanistan to Category:19th-century establishments in Afghanistan and Category:1823 establishments in Asia
- Propose deleting Category:1823 in Afghanistan
- Propose deleting Category:1820s establishments in Afghanistan
- Nominator's rationale: merge, per WP:OCYEAR, 6 categories for 3 articles, this is not helpful for navigation. Marcocapelle (talk) 03:31, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- Merge I have come to realize my attempt to create an intersection between country level entity and year of establishment to hold every article in any given year was misguided. I do not seem to have created this category, but did in the same time period create several other similar categories.John Pack Lambert (talk) 12:59, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
Category:Catholic Church legal terminology
[edit]- Propose manually merging Category:Catholic Church legal terminology to Category:Canon law of the Catholic Church
- Nominator's rationale: manually merge, these aren't articles about terminology as a subject, they rather are articles about subjects in canon law. Move articles to the root category if they aren't already somewhere else in the Canon law of the Catholic Church tree, and uncontainerize the parent category. There is one exception, article List of Catholic canon law legal abbreviations, which should be moved to Category:Catholic terminology too. Marcocapelle (talk) 03:23, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
Category:Ballets set during the Third Servile War
[edit]- Nominator's rationale: Category with only one entry, unlikely to expand. PatGallacher (talk) 01:28, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- Merge to
Category:Third Servile War andCategory:Historical ballets, this is not helpful for navigation. Better nominate Category:Third Servile War films and most subcategories of Category:Historical ballets as well. Marcocapelle (talk) 02:51, 30 July 2026 (UTC) - Merge to Category:Historical ballets. I think the category Category:Cultural depictions of Spartacus is a good enough category to cover the other aspects of this category. That is what most readers would recognize more than Third Servile War, and that probably should be a sub-cat of Category:Third Servile War if it is not.John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:02, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- It actually is Category:Cultural depictions of Spartacus is a sub-cat of Spartacus which is a sub-cat of Third Servile War. So the Spartacus ballet is under the Third Servile War category that way, and does not need to be directly merged to the Third Servile War category.John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:04, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- That is a good point. So as a next step Category:Third Servile War films may be nominated to be merged to Category:Cultural depictions of Spartacus, thus clearing Category:Third Servile War in popular culture. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:15, 30 July 2026 (UTC)

[edit]Category:Alt-right politicians in Canada
[edit]- Nominator's rationale: 2 of the people in this category (Southern and Goldy) are clearly alt-right but are political commentators, not politicians. Goldy did attempt and fail to run for mayor so I suppose she could count but that is only 1 article, too small for such a specific subcategory. The other one, Fromm, is not described as alt-right, which is a specific 2010s movement and not synonymous with far right; he is straightforwardly a white supremacist. PARAKANYAA (talk) 19:33, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- Delete for now, per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 20:15, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- Delete at best, and that is debatable, we have 1 article that fits which is too narrow. Not every unsuccessful candidate for mayor needs to be categorized by that. At least at the local politics level, I think we should limit politician categories to those actually elected. Categroies are supposed to be by defining traits, not every detail of a subjects life.John Pack Lambert (talk) 12:57, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- Delete per nom. Fromm is already in Category:Canadian neo-Nazis (subcat of Canadian white supremacists) and Category:Far-right politics in Canada. Οἶδα (talk) 21:42, 30 July 2026 (UTC)

Category:American alt-right politicians
[edit]- Nominator's rationale: Not one of the 3 people in this category is described as alt-right in their articles. Alt-right refers to a specific 2010s movement and is not synonymous with far right. PARAKANYAA (talk) 19:30, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

- Delete per nom. Somewhat touched on at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2026 May 19#Category:Alt-right writers, but this categorization is potentially useless. If they are/were figures in that "movement", then categorize them as such. Otherwise, put them in the far-right categories if appropriate. If not, then don't. Οἶδα (talk) 21:39, 30 July 2026 (UTC)

Category:Christian terminology stubs
[edit]- Propose manually merging Category:Christian terminology stubs to Category:Christianity stubs

Category:Kashmiri atheists
[edit]- Nominator's rationale: The other categories for athiests by ethnicity have more coverage. Jewish atheism has a lot of coverage. Arab atheism doesn't have that much coverage, and I'm fine with its deletion, but it does cover more people. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 16:38, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

Category:Transgender villains
[edit]- Propose merging Category:Transgender villains to Category:LGBTQ villains and Category:Fictional transgender characters
- Nominator's rationale: Category violates WP:OCEGRS. The creator seems to have a long history of making trivial intersection categories, this may need some sort of attention. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 15:59, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- Merge per nom, but please nominate sibling categories (e.g. Category:Bisexual villains) too. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:36, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

- merge per above --Lenticel (talk) 00:11, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- Keep. The topic of transgender villains has been covered by multiple sources. . Media portrayals of transgender people has a sentence on this: "Nikki Reitz further examined transgender representation in film and television in an article in the journal, Cinesthesia. Reitz details that often trans women are cast as villains in film and television, citing examples of bad representation in the films Sleepaway Camp (1983) and Silence of the Lambs (1991), and further criticizing TV shows such as Law & Order (1990–2010), CSI (2000–2015), NCIS (2003–Present), and The Closer (2005–2012) as doing the same thing." Category:Transgender characters in video games
[edit]- Nominator's rationale: Category violates WP:OCEGRS. The creator seems to have a long history of making trivial intersection categories, this may need some sort of attention. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 15:56, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- Merge per nom, but please nominate sibling categories (e.g. Category:Bisexual characters in video games) too. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:37, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- Keep. While the above "villains" category is too small and specific, this one is perfectly acceptable. The representation of transgenderism in different types of media is a typical study object in sociology and other science branches, and also a typical thing that gets reported upon. Something like the very broad "The SAGE Encyclopedia of Trans Studies" repeatedly refers to appearances in video games (e.g. in Tell Me Why (video game), but also Assassins Creed and Persona). Here, in "Crime, Punishment, and Video Games", is a lengthy discussion about the depiction of transgerder people in video games, and this book, "Queerness in Play" has a lot more detail about it, with e.g. a table of 97 transgender characters in 91 games, and discussion about the shifts in number and importance of characters over the years. Just a few of the many examples about this. This is an important topic, and very, very clearly a defining characteristic about these characters, and merging thiq to the more general categories is not herlpful or appropriate at all. Fram (talk) 08:09, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- Keep per User:Fram. This category has enough articles for diffusion. The "Transgender villains" category can be merged for now until there are enough articles. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 16:09, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
- Withdraw Based on the argument above, I've been convinced it is in fact defining as a category. I would withdraw the nomination, but it would be a supervote. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 11:42, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Category:Retro TV
[edit]- Nominator's rationale: This categories feels unnecessary as the articles with this category are only about Retro TV, no original shows, or other things. OWaunTon (talk) 12:34, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

- Propose renaming Category:Austrian School publications (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) to Category:Austrian School books
- Propose renaming Category:Photojournalism publications (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) to Category:Photojournalism periodicals
- Nominator's rationale: Continuation of , see there for an explanation of the problems with "publication" as a categorization scheme. In summary, publication has multiple different definitions which different categories are using inconsistently, such as including books in some but excluding in others, problematic as there are different categorization considerations for book and periodical literature, as referring to the business of publishing, or as a synonym for "mass media". Publication taken to be all inclusive of all types of media is redundant to the "mass media" category tree so that does not work either.
In this case, all of these categories are using publication to mean "periodical", so we should move it there. I did magazines for one because all of those were magazines. I also did one the opposite direction for books as everything in there is books. PARAKANYAA (talk) 10:01, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- No objection from me.----3family6 (Talk to me|See what I have done) 10:08, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- Rename, the term periodicals covers the content more precisely. Marcocapelle (talk) 11:16, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- When you inevitably rename them, do not continue linking them to Wikidata as most of the languages there refer specifically to *publications* and not *periodicals*. Create new items for them so we don't have to once again fix the mess on the Wikidata side or on other language Wikipedias. - Yupik (talk) 13:23, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- In addition, the previous batch needs to be decoupled from their Wikidata items and new wd items created. This is something you need to do each time you rename categories instead of leaving it to people on Wikidata and other language versions to fix. - Yupik (talk) 13:25, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
19th-century publications
[edit]- Propose merging Category:19th-century publications (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) to Category:Publications established in the 19th century
- Propose merging Category:20th-century publications (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) to Category:Publications established in the 20th century
- Nominator's rationale: Redundant and extremely underpopulated categories, where populating would result in thousands of redundant categories, already handled by a plethora of better subcategories in the 2nd tree. The first ones' scopes are periodicals established in that century. Same as the second. Also more accurate, as periodicals are not individual works like books where there is one single time but they exist over a range and so are defined by starting and cessation dates. PARAKANYAA (talk) 09:35, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- Manually merge, or delete, presumably all articles are already in some other subcategory in the tree of Category:Publications established in the 19th century or Category:Publications established in the 20th century. Marcocapelle (talk) 11:19, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

Category:Yet another
[edit]- Nominator's rationale: WP:SHAREDNAME. The contents here are computer software or utility packages which, by the geekazoid conventions of software development, have been named "Yet Another X" and/or "Yasomething" -- but per longstanding consensus, we don't categorize topics by characteristics of their names. Bearcat (talk) 15:06, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
- Delete categorization by shared name. John Pack Lambert (talk) 15:28, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
- Keep. Categorized subjects are directly related—most are software or otherwise computing-related, in this case—and I daresay their names are essentially "defining" (though I am not completely sure of the meaning of that wikijargon); for example, yacc and YARV per se define those tools as a compiler-compiler and a Ruby virtual machine, respectively. That category was created primarily because those related articles were mostly scattered about, with nothing linking them like that, and such a linking was needed in the Yet another article (see the See also section, then compare with what we had before). For more, see this discussion on that article's talkpage. ~

- Delete. Agree that this is better presented in a list. --Bsherr (talk) 01:07, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- @Bsherr What would you say (or do) then about the issue discussed in the article's talkpage and raised by Escape Orbit? That 25-year-old stub needs improvements and expansion, yet having a complete list of examples in it is apparently a bad idea! So what else shall be done with those namewise related but otherwise scattered (and soon category-orphaned) articles? No good list can be had, no category either, and the YA/Ya prefix pages are way too broad (the category is much better for that purpose)… Every solution I tried has failed! I have no idea what else to do about this, so I'll just leave it for the community to sort it out by yourselves. ~
bytekast[talk • cont • logs] 01:26, 29 July 2026 (UTC)- If the consensus at the article is that an open-ended list would make the article too long or be disproportionate within a summary style, you could create a stand-alone list. --Bsherr (talk) 01:55, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- I am not sure whether one person agreeing and another disagreeing (but eventually complying after finding another solution) on an issue qualifies as consensus. (After all, it's just a duo!) In any case, a list article does sound like the most viable and sensible solution, all things considered so far. Thank you for the suggestion. ~
bytekast[talk • cont • logs] 02:15, 29 July 2026 (UTC)- Indeed, that would not be a consensus. The hope is that, through further discussion, you might agree and thus form a consensus. Boldly creating a stand-alone list is another approach. --Bsherr (talk) 02:25, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

- For what it's worth, I don't see it as problematic to replace the "examples" with an open-ended list in the article, provided that when the software is known by an initialism, a source is cited for the definition of the initialism. Since the article is short, I don't think such a list would detract, and neither do I think a separate stand-alone list would be justified. So, to that extent, I disagree with User:Escape Orbit. Sorry you are getting the runaround but, based on the guidelines, a category isn't the solution. --Bsherr (talk) 02:05, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- If the consensus at the article is that an open-ended list would make the article too long or be disproportionate within a summary style, you could create a stand-alone list. --Bsherr (talk) 01:55, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- My issue about the list in the article was not that the list would be opened ended, although that is not a desirable situation, but that it had an unexplained, very probably opinion based, split into two lists that performed exactly the same function within the article. Beyond that, I think there needs to be a clearer understanding of the purpose of the article. Is it to explain the naming used across a number of software projects, and beyond, or is it to attempt an exhaustive list of everything that uses it? The former seems like something that Wikipedia should and can do. It only needs examples, and we can safely assume that the reader gets the idea after the first ten. The latter seems like a futile exercise of little use or interest to anyone. Having a category seemed to me to be more apt, but having read WP:SHAREDNAME, perhaps not. I'm not overly concerned either way. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 11:00, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- Delete per the spirit of WP:SHAREDNAME. If WP:NLIST could be satisfied, this might be worth a list article to compliment Yet another or a section in that article, but a category is definitely the wrong namespace for this. - RevelationDirect (talk) 22:17, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

Category:Mamata Banerjee ministries
[edit]- Propose renaming Category:Mamata Banerjee ministries to Category:Political career of Mamata Banerjee
- Nominator's rationale: Do we really need this category? It has only 3 articles. Instead we can re-purpose it by renaming. I guess if we rename it to Category:Political career of Mamata Banerjee, then more article will be under it. Mehedi Abedin 00:09, 3 July 2026 (UTC)

Category:Loyalist slave owners in the Thirteen Colonies
[edit]- Nominator's rationale: I don't think that this interseciton is defining. Maybe if this were a war about slavery, maybe... but I don't think that this case applies. SMasonGarrison 13:41, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
- Merge a non-defining intersection. I actually think if we are going to keep the slave owner cat, we should limit it to people who owned large numbers of slaves in a way that was economically impact, and exclude people who only owned 1 and maybe a few more slaves. Just how we do not include everyone who owns their house and the small plot of land it is on as a landowner.John Pack Lambert (talk) 15:30, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
- Comment Patriot slave owning and Loyalist slave owning was a big deal during the time of the American Revolution, Wikipedia should keep that distinction intact with the ability to respectively find the information, somewhere in Wikipedia, in separation, with respect to the fact that it adds both historical value as well as encyclopedic value to Wikipedia. See for example Expulsion of the Loyalists, which said Loyalist slave owners took their illicit slave property north with them when they departed the colonies for Loyalist Canada, or the Philipsburg Proclamation, which allowed Loyalist slave owners to keep their "property". Merging this category would leave a bald spot, a blindness, for users seeking this information in an easily accessible way. It would be less encyclopedic to make the information harder to find. I think making information increasingly difficult to find violates what Wikipedia stands for. Progressingamerica (talk) 16:59, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
- This is very relevant information for a history article, but it is not defining for a biography. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:29, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
- Delete per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:29, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
- Further note, if articles are not in a state subcategory of loyalists or a state subcategory of slave owners yet they should certainly be added manually. But a wholesale merge to the parent categories is inappropriate. Marcocapelle (talk) 03:15, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- We have categories for American slaveholders by descent (e.g., Category:African-American slave owners, Category:Hispanic and Latino American slave owners). Is that a more significant intersection than slave owners by loyalty? --Bsherr (talk) 01:26, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- I suppose the answer is yes, because slavery in the United States was race-dependent. Marcocapelle (talk) 03:44, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- A lot of the sourcing of the very small number of non-white slaveowners can be problematic because it's often used a false equivalency for slavery apologists to suggest everyone did it. But since American slavery was a racial caste system, exceptions are defining from my perspective. RevelationDirect (talk) 22:37, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- merge to Category:Slave owners from the Thirteen Colonies as well, seems strange to delete that part and only keep the Loyalist part. Take for example John Wickham (attorney), described in the lead as "an American Loyalist, attorney and slaveholder". The suggested merge would keep "Loyalist" as a category, but would remove he only "slaveholder" category. When suggesting to get rid of an intersection category, make sure to merge to all elements of the intersection or indicate why one of the elements isn't worthy of a category at all. Category:Fictional superhumans
[edit]- Propose merging Category:Fictional superhumans to Category:Speculative fiction characters
- Propose renaming Category:Fictional superhumans by ability to Category:Fictional characters by supernatural ability
- Propose renaming Category:Comics superhumans by ability to Category:Comics characters by supernatural ability
- Propose deleting Category:Fictional superhumans by work (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- Nominator's rationale: I discovered a pretty major problem with this category, in that many superheroes, supervillains, and superpowered individuals are not actually human. It's better to get rid of this category than try to fully recategorize all its subcategories to split superhumans from superpowered non-humans. "Superhumans by ability" can be made to work by removing the "superhuman" requirement. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 09:12, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
- Why not use superpower like Superpower (ability)? –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 14:05, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
- Precisely for the reason that article is disambiguated. "Superpower" can also mean a country, making it confusing. "Superpower" also tends to be more heavily associated with superhero comic books rather than fiction overall. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 14:12, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
- Ambiguity is doubtful in this context, but we can use superpower (ability) if we must. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 18:39, 1 July 2026 (UTC)

- "Superbeings" might work. "Supernatural" is not a reasonable word here, since many of these characters are mutants or scientific characters. Perhaps "Fictional characters by ability" would suffice. Mike Selinker (talk) 15:14, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
- Agree that "Fictional characters by ability" would suffice. We do not have a category tree for superbeings, let alone an article. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:09, 5 July 2026 (UTC)
- That would run into the same issue as the category deleted at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2023_December_27#Category:Fictional_characters_by_abilities. This one is the polar opposite of Category:Fictional characters with disabilities. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 22:04, 8 July 2026 (UTC)

- @Zxcvbnm: Why do you propose merging Category:Fictional superhumans instead of renaming it like the two lower subcategories? –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 20:49, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
- It's an unnecessary category layer and NARROWCAT, there is not even a need to rename it. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 22:50, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
- With current contents, it would make more sense to upmerge Category:Fictional superhumans by ability to it. In that case, we don't lose the other four subcategories (Category:Lists of fictional superhumans, Category:Fictional super soldiers, Category:Superheroes, and Category:Supervillains). Or is your proposal because that the layer is too overlapping with other subcategories of Category:Speculative fiction characters? –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 22:02, 8 July 2026 (UTC)

- Delete We need to avoid categorizing fictional characters just as a user of a weapon just because there is one scene in which he or she uses a that weapon. We should only categorize if use of that weapon is defining to the character. Mulan is not defined as a fan fighter. Most of the film she is using and practicing with other weapons. Weapons people pick up in one fight because of a lack of normal weapons do not become defining because of that.John Pack Lambert (talk) 15:36, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
