This page allows users to request article assessments from experienced Wikipedia editors.

You may submit a request if you disagree with an assessment, are unsure how to assess an article yourself, or have made substantial improvements that may warrant reassessment. Requests are reviewed by volunteers, so response times may vary. For articles covered by active WikiProjects, check whether the project offers its own assessment process.

Volunteers here may assess articles up to B-class. For Good Article status, see WP:GAN; for Featured Article status, see WP:FAC.

To request an article assessment:

• Add each request to the top of the assessment list with one article per request. There is no request limit.
• Sign your request with four tildes: ~~~~
• Allow time for volunteers to review your request.

If you are comfortable assessing articles, consider reviewing some requests yourself; additional volunteers are always welcome. For well-developed articles, consider Peer Review as a possibility; PR guidelines here. Note: Do not rely solely on the Rater tool; its output should be treated as a suggested rating. Volunteer reviewers should be able to assess articles manually using the content assessment scale.

  @Theevu: here, the manual of style says that "Since films are primary sources for their articles, basic descriptions of their plots do not need references to an outside source" (I rarely see plot summaries sourced here, hence my surprise). I don't really mind providing sources for plots, but they don't seem to be required. Also, this specifies that only uncredited performers require citations in the cast section.   Most editors are not going to be knowledgeable about the majority of articles needing assessment: surely that's axiomatic. Were it no so, then this list of articles needing assessed would only ever grow longer. However, the point is to use your experience and rate an article based on what you see. Leaving a checklist without specifying what needs improved is a cop-out: at least offer a summary of the main points where a deficiency occurs. My comments are not a dig at you by any means (thank you for your work) but applicable to everyone here. @Billsmith60: I have completed a second review and agree with @JoeNMLC's C-class assessment for now. The article is substantial and close to B-class, but B-class requires the article to meet each criterion. Length and the amount of work put into an article do not override factual and writing problems.

Check the article talk page. I marked the referencing, structure, supporting material and readability criteria as passes. I marked coverage and accuracy as a fail because the article contains factual problems, including the incorrect date of the 1921 act, the false statement that no injured person testified and the claim that Widgery placed no blame on the soldiers. I also marked the writing criterion as a fail because the article contains several grammatical and citation-formatting errors. These are fixable problems, and I believe the article could qualify for B-class once they are addressed.

I also need to say that the way you addressed JoeNMLC was uncalled for. JoeNMLC is an experienced editor who assessed the article, added the relevant WikiProject banners and sought input from editors who may know more about the subject. Calling that a “cop-out” and making the Adolf Hitler comparison was unnecessary. It is fine to disagree with an assessment or request a second opinion, but the discussion should remain focused on the article and other volunteer editors should be treated with respect.   I have been feeling that I should start assessing articles since I have some knowledge of what the assessment process would involve but I'm afraid I will not judge the criteria against the article fairly. When I create articles, I am afraid of adding a biased rating. I feel quite bad for having used this page so heavily instead of rating articles myself because I know that I might be wasting editors' time. I also feel like the judgement process may be too hard.

  Don't worry about it; especially below GA, ratings are no big deal. WP:BCRIT's nice because it's fairly detailed; if you think an article meets it, you can assess as B-class. The article is substantively quite good and it is well-organized, but B-class has one additional criteria and for B-Class, the article must meet all criteria: "The article is suitably referenced, with inline citations. Any format of inline citation is acceptable: the use of <ref> tags and citation templates such as {{template

cite web}} is optional." Please unify the citation style (any style will do, but having separate "works cited" section and large "further reading" aside from the primary references is an issue) per the tag currently on the article and resubmit for assessment thereafter.
