Template:Infobox computer virus → Template:Infobox malware – This infobox has been used not for computer viruses only, but also for trojans, worms, etc. All this can be referred to simply as "malwares". Furthermore, I think that the new suggested name is simpler and more intuitive than "computer virus". — Yours Truly, ⚑ AtikaAtikawa 18:47, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
What is the difference between type, subtype and classification?
[edit]Looking to add this infobox to a lot of articles but it's unclear when "type" or "classification" should be used. RAT is a type of Trojan so would it be classification Trojan, type RAT or the other way around? Or would it be type Trojan, subtype RAT? D1551D3N7 (talk) 11:33, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
- My interpretation is that classification refers to the domain operating space: Cyberwarfare, Cyber crime, Cyber terrorism, etc.
- Type is the top level, so; Trojan, Spyware, Wiper, Keylogger, Adware, Worm, Rootkit, etc.
- Subtype is the 2nd level. I would say that RAT is the subtype of Trojan. Guylaen (talk) 09:31, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
