The suggested editsnewcomer task displays an article in need of attention to a new user on their WP:Newcomer homepage based on the presence of one or more configurable maintenance templates at the article. For example, if article XYZ has template {{Underlinked}} on it, that article might be shown to a new user as part of the 'add links' suggestion. Most suggested edit types (e.g., 'expand short articles', 'add links', 'find references', 'update the article', 'copyedit') are based on maintenance template presence, but type 'revise tone' is not based directly on an article having a template, but on article content analysis based on a large language model trained on the Peacock template.
