Sentence

Hm, why was the sentence "it is believed to have functioned as pets in the Mayan and Aztec civilizations" removed?

The earlier version said "they are believed to have functioned as pets in the Mayan and Aztec civilizations approximately 3500 years ago." Possibly the breed is that old (I don't know), but Maya and Aztec civilization were not. The Aztecs may not even have existed as a distinct people until about the 13th century. If you want the earlier version of that sentence to go back in, I think you need to provide some evidence for a very major rewrite of Mesoamerican archeology :-) Anyway, I think the breed was most common in central Mexico in Pre-Columbian times. Pronuciation

I'm happy to learn how to pronounce the name of this breed in Nahuatl, but surely English speakers use an anglicized version. The fact that the dogs are refered to as "Xolos" in the text hints that this process has taken place. Would it be possible to add the prevailing English pronunciation so I can speak to my dog-loving friends without embarrassment? Show-low or Zolo? Enquiring minds want to know. Genetics discussion duplication and errors

There are two different places in the genetics section where it's discusses the genetic expression of the coat type. The first one says that a homozygous coated dog will die before fully developed in the womb, meaning that the coated variety is "genetically inseparable" from the hairless. However, without citation, somebody put in later:

"Breeding coated to coated will only produce coated pups because only the coated allele is present to be passed on."

Xoloitzcuintle → Mexican Hairless DogMexican Hairless Dog – Per WP:USEENGLISH and recognisability and naturallness. I see 'Mexican Hairless Dog' more often in the literature and the name is easier to recognise for an English speaker.   Google doesn't distinguish the non-English results from the English ones, see this for example: many of the results are non-English or nonsense compared to this which does has only English results and more high quality results such as veterinary textbooks.
