[edit]X Ballot: which is it?
[edit]An x mark ... used to indicate the concept of negation ... as well as affirmation (for example in election ballot papers or in x marks the spot).
As I understand it, in some of the recent contested elections (Coleman v Franken, Minn Senate seat, 2008, for example) there was NO consistency in how an X in a ballot box was re-counted: some as negation, some as affirmation, almost at whim of the individual doing the recount. Should the multiplication sign × be added to the characters?
[edit]It seems logical to me to include this symbol in the ones mentioned in the article, as it’s a commonly used symbol in the shape of a cross, and it’s within the 8-bit Unicode range (U+00D7). Casperdewith (talk) 14:20, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
