A reference to Wigle.net online
[edit]An open source intelligence site talking about how to track someone using Wigle.net in July 2025. It talks about using MAC addresses / BSID, SSID and the like. Their summary says "Wigle is one more tool that an OSINT investigator can use to attempt to locate a target. Include some stats?
[edit]Some of the stats produced may be of general interest. E.g. Gemini suggests 3.05 billion WiFi devices have been sold worldwide, and Wigle.net as 1.7 billion networks found - over half of them. There's 650,000 registered users, which is comparable with distributed processing sites according to boincstats.com It shows that as at November 2025, 1.13% of visible networks were using their default SSID.
