Travis Hunter (American football)Travis Hunter – The football player is the clear primary topic. See pageviews stats which show over 1 million views for the football player versus about 3,500 for the writer in the past two years. BeanieFan11 (talk) 21:37, 26 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Support The ratio on views alone speaks volumes. Red Director (talk) 22:02, 26 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Infobox awards

[edit]

See Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_National_Football_League#Centralized_discussion_about_the_parameters/awards_found_in_Template:Infobox_gridiron_football_biography for more info. I would probably leave his infobox highlights as the following:

There is an awards section in the table of contents if someone wants to dig deeper. Most readers won't recognize what most of those awards even are. If he won the Heisman, it doesn't matter to the general reader that he was the Conference POY. I understand Hunter is unique though since he played both offense and defense. The lead says "Known for his two-way playing ability, Hunter is the only player in college football history to win both the Chuck Bednarik and Fred Biletnikoff Awards", so I figured that covered his versatility. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 20:10, 20 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Although I see the appeal in such a clean infobox (especially removing other national POY awards and repetitive all-conference honors), I would still oppose the removal of his national awards (Chuck, Fred, Lott, Paul... sounds like a Beatles cover band or somethin) and the Big 12 DPOY. Then again, it's also pretty neat that he was first-team all-Big 12 on both sides of the ball... but I could live without it. I guess I'm just an inclusionist in this sense of the word. I know what you mean. Hunter is a unique case. You should have seen what Troy Smith's infobox looked like until yesterday (lol). I think that's the type of redundant stuff people are talking about. I had to remove 19 lines from Peyton Manning's infobox recently. Hopefully people stop complaining about the infoboxes now. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 23:37, 21 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Damn. Four different state Hall of Fames is pretty impressive lol. JTtheOG (talk) 00:05, 22 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
If you really want to see an impressive infobox, feast your eyes on Wayne Gretzky. ~WikiOriginal-9~ (talk) 00:59, 22 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
  1. Selected on offense, defense and all-purpose in 2024
