Cell phone

Claims are cited to third-party news and government sources; the server-based/VT description is attributed to the operator's official material. As a paid/COI contributor I am submitting this as an edit request rather than editing directly.
Tagless (Be-In Be-Out) payment
[edit]Tagless is a Be-In Be-Out (BIBO) fare-payment method operated with the Mobile Tmoney app that lets passengers pay transit fares without tapping a card or phone at the fare gate.[1]
Technology
[edit]Built on top of the existing Automated Fare Collection (AFC) infrastructure, the system detects a passenger's entry and exit and charges the fare automatically, so riders are not required to present a card or phone.[1] Rather than relying on a single positioning method, the operator states that Tagless selectively combines Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), ultra-wideband (UWB) and vision-based AI, together with transit-infrastructure signals, to recognise each journey.[2] It runs on a server-based architecture in which a virtual card system and a virtual terminal (VT) process fares centrally, so operators can apply new fares and policies without replacing existing terminal hardware.[2]
Deployment and recognition
[edit]The service began on 6 September 2023 on Seoul's Ui Sinseol Line, which the Seoul Metropolitan Government and local media described as the world's first commercial tagless public-transport fare system, initially covering 12 stations.[3][4] Tmoney later extended the service to all stations of the Incheon subway, to Seoul Subway Line 9, and piloted it on Seoul city buses.[5][6] The Ui-Sinseol service received the New Technology Innovation Award at the UITP Global Public Transport Summit in 2023 and an award at Transport Ticketing Global in 2024.[7] Yyykkk222 (talk) 03:03, 17 September 2026 (UTC)

T-money → Tmoney – The subject's current official English brand name is "Tmoney" (unhyphenated), as used on the operator's official English website (eng.tmoney.co.kr), the corporate name "Tmoney Co., Ltd.", and in recent reliable sources such as The Korea Herald ("Tmoney launches tagless payments…"). The hyphenated "T-money" reflects an older stylization. Per WP:COMMONNAME and current official branding, I propose moving the article to "Tmoney".
