CNN has debunked the daycare fraud allegations

[edit]

Hi, please add the new info that CNN has debunked the right-wing conspiracy theory about the daycare fraud. They called multiple daycares, one even responded and confirmed via phone that they're a legitimate business

https://edition.cnn.com/2025/12/30/us/video/ac360-wild-mn-fraud-viral-video-nick-shirley ~2025-35113-26 (talk) 13:15, 1 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Oppose: The interview you cited focused on interviewing Nick Shirley, and not on investigating the fraud allegations. Furthermore, in the same interview CNN asserts that indictments regarding this particular alleged fraud scheme have already been issued under the Biden administration, and that further investigations are still ongoing. The second segment of the interview featured casual discussion between experts on the subject matter, but again, there wasn't any definite conclusion for either stance in said segment. Which part of the interview are you pointing to precisely to assert the allegations were disproved? --- LatekVon (talk) 15:07, 1 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
CNN clearly said that a daycare center confirmed on phone that they weren't doing any fraud. but the MAGAts still believe there is fraud ~2025-35113-26 (talk) 16:03, 1 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Conveying what the accused party said is informative, not authoritative. Lack of CNN's judgment at this point in time is further reinforced by the following statement by the CNN: "A lot of folks in the media, including [...] CNN which is looking to verify this video, are showing pause and trepidation around Shirley's reporting, it's just that [sic] making sure that its verified that it's showing fraud." (same rapport, timestamp 5:56) --- LatekVon (talk) 18:11, 1 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
CNN, CBS have not debunked any of the Nick Shirley facts. Because they focused only on the actions of the centers after he showed up. The daycare centers called co conspirators to show up after Nick Shirley eas there is not actual evidence of any value. ~2026-39051 (talk) 22:13, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

September 1995, Tim Walz, then 31, was arrested in Nebraska for driving 96 mph in a 55 mph zone with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of \(0.128\%\). He failed sobriety tests, later pleading guilty to a reduced charge of reckless driving, paying a \(\$200\) fine, and losing his license for 90 days ~2026-58906-8 (talk) 01:49, 28 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Pardoning Laos national convicted of child sex crimes

[edit]

Can we get an edit for this anytime soon? ~2026-40635-77 (talk) 18:00, 20 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

It’s sad to see that my discussion is being ignored. Especially when the other discussions on this page were all responded to the same day. ~2026-40635-77 (talk) 07:12, 30 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Your request is a bit too unspecific. Please detail the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source. Lectonar (talk) 10:19, 30 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
In June 2026, the Minnesota Board of Pardons (Governor Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Natalie Hudson) granted a full pardon to Tou Lue Vang, who had been convicted in 2006 of first-degree criminal sexual conduct for repeatedly sexually abusing a girl beginning when she was 10 years old. The victim, by then an adult, submitted a letter supporting the pardon. Vang was facing imminent deportation; the pardon cleared the conviction that formed the basis of his removal order. He was later deported by federal authorities in July 2026.

I also agree that this information should be added. It is well-sourced and relevant to Governor Walz’s tenure.

Please make the following change in the “Tenure” section (or under a short new “Pardons” subsection):
X: (nothing – this is a new addition)
Y: In June 2026, the Minnesota Board of Pardons—consisting of Governor Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and Chief Justice Natalie Hudson—granted a full pardon to Tou Lue Vang, a Laotian national who had been convicted in 2006 of first-degree criminal sexual conduct for repeatedly sexually abusing a girl beginning when she was 10 years old. The victim, by then an adult, submitted a letter supporting the pardon. Vang was facing imminent deportation; the pardon cleared the conviction that formed the basis of his removal order. He was later deported by federal authorities in July 2026 after his legal status was revoked.

  • The NYT article is quite lengthy. If this is to be added, more info needs to be included. The fact the pardon by the The Minnesota Board of Pardons was a unanimous decision, the support of community members, the remorsefulness of the subject, the fact that he was a minor himself at the time and born in a refugee camp, Thai cultural norms at the time, that deportation would separate him from his wife and six children, that the crime was a quarter century ago and he has had a clean record since, the fact the board has rejected other people convicted of sex crimes facing deportation.
