Plot

[edit]

The plot description for this film is problematic I think, and right now is pretty weak. I fixed an error in it, but still don't feel that it is an informative plot. I am unsure how to do it any better, so I want to leave it up to someone else. - LonesomeCowboyBill (talk · contribs)

I prefer plot summaries short, like this one. Which I wrote ;). But expanding the "editing guidelines" above and going to WP:FilmPlot I see 400 words is the suggested minimum and I used 232, for a fairly complex plot. As for deleting the ending, what was the error in the timeline? "A few weeks"? If it was something else, note that "The events of the film do not have to be described in the order in which they appear on screen", from WP:FilmPlot. -Colfer2 (talk) 11:20, 19 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've just seen the film here in the UK, the Christmas dinner scene appeared around half-way through, rather than at the end as stated in the plot summary. Perhaps I'm being ignorant and the rest is a flashback, or the film was recut? --87.194.152.184 (talk) 21:43, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, you are completely right. I wrote that summary and mis-remembered the plot. This site has a lengthy, scene-by-scene retelling: http://www.themoviespoiler.com/Spoilers/smartpeople.html and though it omits the cake on the porch, I'm convinced it is much earlier by watching clips on Youtube etc., and by the other comments here!!! So I edited the article. -Colfer2 (talk) 00:37, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Courtesy ping @ElliesPoetry, Vaselineeeeeeee, and Coconutbreaker: Looking at the manual of style, MOS:DEADNAME seems pretty clear cut here—as far as I can tell, there's no need to reference the actors' former names except possibly on their first mention (e.g., John Smith (formerly Jane Doe) for the first occurrence). @Perryprog: Thanks for bringing this here. There is another discussion at Talk:Elliot Page/Archive 2#Previous works, but happy to discuss here as well. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 19:51, 1 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
My apologizes—I'll move it over there. Perryprog (talk) 19:55, 1 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
