Undisclosed paid tag
[edit]I've added an UPE tag to this - history of IP editors making highly promotional edits suggests undisclosed paid editing at work. Needs 'significant' cleanup: gutting of infobox, remove promotional language, excessive company structure/acquisitions removed. Darren-M talk 18:18, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- I endorse Darren-M's tag; it seems glaringly obvious that this page has been edited for undisclosed payments for years. Blablubbs|talk 16:19, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- Question: I am probably not as experienced or knowledgeable about this stuff as you guys are, but wouldn't a COI tag be more proper here? How can you assume it's paid editing vs. company employees or in-house staff? They have 500 employees according to the article. Anyone of them could have been making edits without knowing the Wikipedia rules and that COI needs to be disclosed. I checked several of these editors, several are IP edits and have very little edits and some of the user ID ones also have little edits, but again, how can you tell these are paid editors vs. Company staff or people having COI. If you have some special way to tell please enlighten me. Boredathome101 (talk) 02:45, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

There is a section of this article that states Dell Inc. is a majority shareholder in this company. The problem is that it is not cited and that every shareholder list I could find doesn't list Dell Inc. or any majority shareholders. MarketScreener, however, does list Michael Dell as holding 100% of the company in one type. I will be adding a "citation needed" area next to there just to be safe. Request to remove Michael Dell’s name from infobox
[edit]| This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hey there! I'm a Dell Technologies employee. I'd like to kindly request a change to the Secureworks infobox. Currently, the infobox lists Michael Dell as the chairman under “Key people”. However, following the acquisition of Secureworks by Sophos, Michael Dell no longer holds this position. I request for his information to be removed from the infobox.
This CRN article confirms that Secureworks is no longer a Dell Technologies subsidiary. This change makes the current listing inaccurate.
Thank you for reviewing this request! Please ask if further clarification or details are needed. JM with Dell Technologies (talk) 15:51, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
Question: I believe the source does not state Dell left his position. Do you have a source for the new chairman? PK650 (talk) 02:20, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
- User:PK650: Thank you for your quick reply and for raising this important question. At this time, there does not appear to be a reliable source that clearly identifies the new chairman for Secureworks. I'll continue to monitor for any updates from reputable publications that address this information and will follow up with you when new information becomes available. Thanks again! JM with Dell Technologies (talk) 16:36, 6 February 2025 (UTC)
- @JM with Dell Technologies, is there any update on whether any sources would state this? Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 06:24, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the follow-up, Sammi Brie! There are no recent media or news articles confirming that Michael Dell has stepped down as Chairman of Secureworks. Based on his LinkedIn profile, he held the role from April 2011 to February 2025, indicating his tenure ended at that time. While LinkedIn provides useful insights, it may not satisfy Wikipedia's sourcing criteria. I defer to you and the community to assess its sufficiency in this context. Thank you for your efforts to maintain the article’s accuracy! JM with Dell Technologies (talk) 14:23, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- @JM with Dell Technologies, in this case if it is about Michael Dell and is on his LinkedIn profile, his LinkedIn would be permissible as a source for biographical information. See WP:ABOUTSELF. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 17:36, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for confirming, Sammi Brie! I appreciate your guidance. Based on this, would you be open to removing Michael Dell's information from the infobox to ensure the article reflects the most accurate information? Thank you for your time and support!
