• This scandal is mentioned on the governorship section. Seems like that's adequately covered there. Any mention here should remain brief until it's resolved there are more concrete details. The notice you left on my talk page also seems unusual considering that there hasn’t been a discussion here first.

Regarding the current section in question: it appears to give undue weight to the topic. The material is already covered in detail at Governorship of Ron DeSantis, and repeating that level of detail here isn’t necessary. If there's consensus to include a brief summary, we can work on that collaboratively, but right now, it feels premature to include what are essentially just an investigation into allegations.

DeSantis' $83 million property deal

DeSantis is in the news for his involvement arranging the $83 million purchase by Florida of property in Destin, Florida owned by Robert Guidry who previously pled guilty to bribing a former governor of Louisiana and is a big donor to various politicians in Louisiana and Florida including DeSantis (at least $250,000) and various Republican politicians in Okaloosa County (where the property is being purchased). Apparently Guidry skirts campaign finance laws by making numerous donations via his companies.

There's also involvement from state senator Jay Trumbull and a former Okaloosa County Commissioner who also served as executive director of the state attorney office. I started Draft:Robert J. Guidry and would be happy to have help with it.

Content regarding the donations to DeSantis, DeSantis removing a Destin city council member who was critical of Guidry's development plans in Destin, and the governor's ramrodding of the purchase with conservation funds targeted for other priorities should be included here. Relevant coverage should also be added to the Destin, Jay Trumbull, and Florida land preservation program entries. Thanks for any assistance. In 2020 and 2021, DeSantis manipulated and suppressed Department of Health data on Florida infection rates. Data was removed from department web pages, and data requests were denied with the response that such data did not exist. Data was also manipulated to misrepresent the impact of the pandemic upon Florida residents. After losing a lawsuit, DeSantis acknowledged that the data did exist, and it was restored to the Department of Health web pages as ordered by the court. ~2026-22619-51 (talk) 16:45, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
