Ray Chase (voice actor)Ray ChaseWP:PRIMARYTOPIC per overwhelming pageviews since early 2020. A hatnote will suffice in redirecting towards the politician. Jeffrey34555 (talk) 07:09, 15 June 2025 (UTC)  Relisting. CoconutOctopus talk 20:41, 22 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

  • Support clear primary topic. Link20XX (talk) 02:35, 17 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. No primary topic per long-term significance. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:31, 20 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. If 99.4% of the views historically isn't primary topic worthy then I have no idea what is anymore. Not forgetting that the other Chase is Ray P. Chase, not Ray Chase, so this is barely a primary topic grab. In advance and in anticipation of such arguments, I'm opposing any WP:CRYSTALBALL theories that the next decade won't be the same as the last 10 years. CNC (talk) 12:00, 30 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
    • Somone who is currently active is almost invariably going to have more pageviews than someone who died many years before the birth of the internet. And one having a middle initial and one not is utterly irrelevant to disambiguation. They're both Ray Chase and can both be called Ray Chase. The fact is that neither Ray Chase is an especially well-known figure. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:21, 30 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'm of the opinion that Ray P was the primary topic last century, retrospectively applied, and that this Ray is the primary topic for this century. With this perspective I don't see recentism applying as is predominantly based WP:10YT or 20 year litmus test, that this subject would pass with flying colours per last 10 years. WP hasn't existed for a century, so I'm not convinced these type of policies extend to such theoretical scenarios either. I also believe revisiting this in 22nd century is ok if needed. Ray Chase (voice actor)Ray Chase – Still the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC over Ray P. Chase, the politician. Again, the voice actor has overwhelming pageviews over the politician since early 2017 and is featured on the news all the time. Additionally, the issue of WP:NACTOR from the last RM has been resolved, as detailed in the WP:AFD discussion here. Jeffrey34555 (talk) 07:53, 11 July 2026 (UTC)  Relisting. Maltazarianparleyinvestigate 15:12, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Oppose I just don't see the argument that the voice actor has longer-term significance than the politician. The politician ran Minnesota's financial system for a decade, was the Republican nominee in one of the most groundbreaking gubernatorial elections in history, and represented the entirety of Minnesota in the historic 73rd Congress. Past his prime, he authored an antisemitic pamphlet that was deemed one of the 150 most influential writings about Minnesota in 2009 and held statewide office again. 1brianm7 (talk) 09:25, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Support Alone the names are different enough, I would understand if someone would argue recency bias, but Ray Chase the voice actor should have the main page. I would support including a Other uses or similar link at the top of the page. Esw01407 (talk) 01:32, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I agree. Adding a hatnote (probably {{subst:Distinguish}}) would suffice. Toast of Fatetalk to me! 07:06, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Support. Ray P. Chase already has WP:NATURALDIS, which is the most relevant policy and obviates the need for parenthetical disambiguation. Axem Titanium (talk) 08:45, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don't see the point about WP:NATURALDIS? It only tells us what to do if the best name is ambiguous, and Ray Chase is certainly ambiguous with Ray P. Chase since he was often just referred to as Ray Chase. Lyndon Johnson (American football) isn't titled Lyndon Johnson just because Lyndon B. Johnson has a middle initial. 1brianm7 (talk) 11:10, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Disambiguation can be accomplished through a hatnote as discussed above. You'll note that Lyndon Johnson (American football) is in fact also named Lyndon B(aines) Johnson. Anyway, as an additional reason to support, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia for people who are reading it today, not for some hypothetical future or past reader. Saving 24,000 people a click per month by fixing this WP:ONEOTHER dab page is worth it. Axem Titanium (talk) 20:35, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ray P. Chase already has WP:NATURALDIS, which is the most relevant policy and obviates the need for parenthetical disambiguation. Good grief, when will editors realise that this is utterly irrelevant to disambiguation? Neither is Wikipedia intended to primarily reflect current pop culture as opposed to history. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:02, 16 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes, the policy page on article titles, with the section titled "Natural disambiguation" has nothing to do with disambiguation. Brilliant stuff. Axem Titanium (talk) 01:22, 17 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
