Adding the title "the Great" to John Paul II's name
[edit]Hello to Whom It May Concern, after looking through the list of all the pontiffs I knew that Pope St. John Paul II was also referred to as "the Great" and in the article towards the bottom there is a reference to JP2's title of "the Great". So, I was wondering if it was alright to add "the great" behind Pope St. John Paul II's name at the top of the article banner info box to read "John Paul the Great" or "John Paul II the Great" figured I'd ask so he could match that of Pope Sts. Leo I, Gregory I, and Nicholas I? Thanks :) Starfield360 (talk) 01:19, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- This is a devotional title which holds no official status, but that some Catholics use it has been added to the article. M.A.Spinn (talk) 16:21, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

Footnote D is misplaced
[edit]I think footnote D, in the introductory paragraph, is misplaced. It explains that John Paul II is the first pope without Italian ancestry since 1523. I suggest repositioning it right after the phrase "He was the first non-Italian pope since Adrian VI in the 16th century," because it is precisely here that the text is addressing ethnicity/nationality. ~2026-15582-75 (talk) 03:27, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
