While digging through the online print archive, I located the following print preview material for this game:

One or more print reviews for this game may also be found in the archive. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 15:42, 21 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wow great, thanks! :) 108.69.80.49 (talk) 16:00, 21 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Jimmy, thank you very much for this, and your continued work on RPG-related games. :) I added a little bit to the article from each of the archive links you posted above (not from the online print archive though), even the ones you posted (gulp) 7 years ago... better late than never. :) BOZ (talk) 18:09, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hey BOZ! Thank you for adding it to the article. I've got plans to expand the reception sections for several more RPG pages in the near future—there's a lot of material out there, luckily. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 21:17, 12 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

In Intro

[edit]

Says "Nameless One, is an immortal man who forgets everything if killed." I would recommend changing it to something more like: "occasionally forgets everything when temporarily killed." Clearly there are long stretches in the Nameless Ones history -- including the portion of his life covered by the game sequence itself -- where his memory is contiguous across multiple deaths. It is only the occasional temporary death that seems to result in amnesia and thus usually the start of a whole new chapter of his life, such as the start of the game itself. Additionally it is worth pointing out that these are temporary deaths. As the game reveals his immortality can be absolved after which he can die completely and permanently; the deaths being referenced are just the temporary ones that punctuate his current state and occasionally result in amnesia.162.220.42.222 (talk) 01:09, 7 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Shrik

[edit]

I don't think Shirked (used in the third paragraph in the intro) is a word. At the very least, it's being used in the incorrect context.

"and for the protagonist's unique persona, which shirked many characteristics of traditional role-playing games"

I wouldn't know what to replace it with because the placement and context of the word don't give foresight to its meaning because the protagonist of Planescape is very unique, yet at the same time amnesia is an extremely common trope in RPG's. Longtime4321 (talk) 07:42, 3 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

It may not be the best word for the situation, but it's definitely a word: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/shirk BOZ (talk) 14:07, 3 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

CGW RPG of the Year 1999

[edit]

The article currently states that Computer Gaming World denoted it the RPG of the Year 1999, with the source given Issue 186 of CGW from January 2000. However, I've just carefully screened that issue (available e.g. here https://www.cgwmuseum.org/galleries/issues/cgw_186.pdf), and I cannot see any reference to that anywhere in there. It's named as one of the 100 games on the “Holiday Hot 100”, in place 70, on page 74, but nothing about “XXX of the Year”. Am I overlooking something? —Nightstallion 14:02, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Ah, the issue number was just wrong. It's in Issue 188 (https://www.cgwmuseum.org/galleries/issues/cgw_188.pdf, page 78). —Nightstallion 14:06, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
