Posting this again bc no one responded. get why Wikipedia uses old photos of people once they pass away. However, none of the members of Rush are mostly known for how they looked like when they were young. Neil Peart is most iconic for the skull cap look he had from around 1994 up until his final performances. It is the main look you get when you look up Neil Peart on Google Images. It is also how he is mostly depicted in pop culture. He is also known for being a drummer and sitting down behind a drum kit. So all around, the current heading pic is a very poor introduction for someone who doesn't know who Neil Peart is. The skull cap and drumset immediately clues a reader in to what set Peart apart from other rock drummers and effectively represent his personality and philosophy. At the very least, it should be a picture of him behind a drum kit. GermanicLanguageBranch (talk) 13:48, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia, except in limited situations, is policy-bound to use images that are freely licensed. If the only free images that are available are older, then we're generally stuck using them rather than new but non-free ones. Some of the free ones on commons do seem to be newer and more recognizeable in the ways you describe. Take a look at c:Category:Neil Peart and see what you think. The discussion above about the heading picture has gotten nowhere, but I do think there is grounds for the picture to be changed, so I'm starting the RfC to get a larger discussion.
Question: Which picture should be used as the main image for the infobox of the article Neil Peart?
