I think this phrase in the first sentence is slightly misleading. Tyson was officially retired for 19 years after 2005. So with no matches between June 11, 2005, and November 15, 2024, I think we should reword this to say "professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2005, and again in 2024." Perhaps we can agree on a different wording but with such an immense gap between his last and second to last match, I think we need to take note that his career basically ended in 2005. Coming out of retirement for one single match does not suddenly make your 20-year career a 39-year career. If Tyson went on to compete regularly again, then it would seem more appropriate to have that one large time span but the gap between those matches is too immense to not note that the 2024 match is an outlier. I will be making this change but if reverted, I will kindly ask what is the reasoning? He retired for a long time and returned for a single match, so there's nothing wrong with making this change. I do admit the wording is not perfect, but I find the outlier to be too great to not be mentioned here. MountainJew6150 (talk) 01:15, 29 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
