Today, the International Committee of the Red Cross went so far as to issue a statement of outrage at attacks on Beirut and nearby areas, which I believe is notable given the organization's importance and role as well as the extreme rarity with which they make such statements. A proposed addition to the article appears below, though I will defer to veteran editors on suitably NPOV phrasing. I have already added this text to Beirut; if there is reason for it to be revised, similar revisions should likely be made there. I did include a link and archive link to the statement as the added reference, though I am not certain if additional, secondary sources are required in this case.

In the late 1980s, as Amine Gemayel's second term as president drew to an end, the Lebanese pound collapsed. At the end of 1987 US$1 was worth £L500. This meant the legal minimum wage was worth just $17 a month. Most goods in shops were priced in dollars. A Save the Children director estimated that 200,000–300,000 children were in need of assistance and were living almost entirely on bread, which was subsidized by the government. Those who could relied on foreign assistance. Hezbollah was receiving about $3–5 million a month from Iran.[89] In September 1988, the Parliament failed to elect a successor to President Gemayel as a result of differences between the Christians, Muslims, and Syrians. The Arab League Summit of May 1989 led to the formation of a Saudi–Moroccan–Algerian committee to solve the crisis.

The link in reference 5 (International Foundation for Electoral Systems (September 2011). "Overview of the current 26 electoral districts" (PDF).) is wrong. It leads to the 2022 Election results rather than the listed source.

It should probably also be stated that the source is from 2011, so it may not be the best for 2024 religion statistics.
