Looks interesting! I will review this within a week or two. ❧ LunaEatsTuna (talk), proudly editing since 2018 (and just editing since 2017) – posted at 23:01, 10 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Lead

More like.. Lead climbing harharhar. :)

  • After their first mention, you no longer need to use the ' quotation marks for words like second and lead climber.
    •  Done
  • The images are very good and helpful, but there is a lot of them and on smaller devices it does end up unfortunately squishing the text. I think you should remove the four images (the two image pairs) in the § Equipment section, as they seem less vital compared to the others IMO.
    •  Done I have trimmed half the images (taken 2 of the 4 out) and trimmed the caption and put them side-by-side. I would like to show the two versions of lead climbing (traditional and sport) as the lead climbing equipment is very different for each one? Hope that works?
Description
  • You can remove “(see image .1)” and “(see image .2)” as the diagram is quite large and hard to miss.
    •  Done
  • "If a 'lead climber' falls" – I think is better as "If the lead climber falls" in this context.
    •  Done
  • Remove the italics from at least.
    •  Done
  • "Note that when the 'second' is climbing" – how about "In contrast, when the second is climbing" instead?
    •  Done
  • "partially 'pulled' up" – no need for it to have quotation marks.
    •  Done
  • In the first sentence of the fourth paragragh, un-wikilink belaying as it has been wikilinked before in this same section.
    •  Done
  • I am a bit confused on what "The act and desire to 'lead' a climbing route is related to the definition of what is a first ascent (FA), or first free ascent (FFA) in climbing" means.
    •  Done. Have changed to Leading a climbing route is required to satisfy the definition of what is a first ascent (FA), or a first free ascent (FFA), in climbing.
  • "early-1980s" – should be "early 1980s”.
    •  Done
Risk
  • I think the bullet points for this section can be removed.
    •  Done
  • "that it won't rip out" – change to "that it will not rip out".
    •  Done
  • No need for italics on at least here either.
    •  Done
  • Remove "Ironically" as emotive (e.g. non-encyclopaedic) language.
    •  Done
  • Remove the italics from behind as well.
    •  Done
Equipment
  • "Their 'second'—who will be belaying—will" – this does not use spaces whereas the other sentences with dashes do; I believe that either is acceptable on WP, but use one for consistency.
    •  Done; added the space
  • "often referred to as a 'climbing rack' and is usually worn" – should be either "often referred to as a 'climbing rack' and usually worn" or "which is often referred to as a 'climbing rack' and is usually worn".
    •  Done; latter version
  • Rephrase "and/or" per WP:AND/OR.
    •  Done
Multi-pitch leading
  • "Longer climbing routes (e.g. such as in big wall climbing), are" – remove the comma. Relatedly:
    •  Done
  • I would phrase it as "Longer climbing routes (such as in big wall climbing)".
    •  Done
  • "The 'second' also needs to be comfortable" – how about "The second must also be comfortable"?
    •  Done
  • Remove the italics from simultaneously.
    •  Done
  • I would do "The lead climber acts like on a normal lead climb whereas the second does not remain belaying".
    •  Done
Spotcheck

All good on the refs I checked.

I apologise immensely for the wait. I have (finally) left my comments above and have now placed this article on hold to allow for you to make any improvements. Please ping me once you are finished so that I can know when to take another look; but also, feel free to ask any questions or refute any of my proposed changes. ❧ LunaEatsTuna (talk), proudly editing since 2018 (and just editing since 2017) – posted at 00:55, 5 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi @LunaEatsTuna. Thank you so much for those great comments almost all of which I have incorporated into the article (just the four images I have trimmed by half instead of removing). Absolutely no need to apologise for the wait and your review is much appreciated ! Hopefully my comments and changes work for you and look forward to your feedback. Nice work! I am really happy with the changes, as well as what you did with the images. I am happy now to pass this wonderful article for GA status. Congrats! ❧ LunaEatsTuna (talk), proudly editing since 2018 (and just editing since 2017) – posted at 23:24, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
