“Last Race” section is incorrect.

Busch’s last race was the 2026 NASCAR All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway, not the race at Watkins Glen nor the 2024 Charlotte race which has now been put up. ~2026-30753-25 (talk) 22:50, 21 May 2026 (UTC)

@~2026-30753-25 The “Last Race” line in the infobox only counts points-paying races, which the All Star Race was not. I disagree with this as well, but it cannot be changed at the moment without a clear consensus on the NASCAR Wikiproject as doing so would require thousands of edits to NASCAR-related pages. While I agree- especially in people that died young- the 2026 is a little blurry and shows the side of his face, while the 2020 is a frontal picture from up close. I think it should go back to that. Additionally he's with the M&M scheme which is much more instantly recognizable and iconic regarding his career. Ideally it should be a picture showing his bare face IMO, there a are few in Commons. I have no opinion on this particular picture but with regards to "Wiki has a weird habit of changing to old photos for some reason after someone dies", typically for living people, the most recent photo is the best representation of who that person is while for a dead person, the most representative photo is one when they were most well known (typically when they were younger). We are not concerned with "traditions" when editing on Wikipedia. The 2008 image is of worse quality than the current 2025 one or the proposed 2020 one. The 2020 one is probably the best choice. Electricmemory (talk) 13:53, 23 May 2026 (UTC)

See the pages of Bill Russell, Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, Randy Savage, Jim Brown, Alan Kulwicki, Jerry West, Ultimate Warrior, and even Elizabeth II. Their current lead images are as well grainy and are taken from their younger years. 0ver3stlmatingAnEdit (talk) 13:57, 23 May 2026 (UTC)

All of those articles are for people who were much older than Busch, meaning the images are going to be lower quality by default. Kulwicki's image is from two years before his death. Just because other editors chose grainy low quality images for those articles doesn't mean we need to do the same here; plus if you want a photo from when he was at the height of his career, the 2020 one works as it's several months after his second Cup Series championship. Note: I have added a new ‘Option G’ image from 2018, because I do believe it highlights his career and his ‘prime’ pretty well.

Option A seems too early (and is misleading regarding his career), and I feel like options E and F are too close to his death rather than his most achievable period. Whereas options, B, C, D, and the image that I have added, G, are all during his ‘prime’. I believe that B and D are slightly too blurry to be lead images, and C shows him in a slightly odd position. Thus, I believe Option G (my included image) seems to be the best option out of all these, with the only (minor) negatives being the microphone, the phone, and not facing the camera that much. Option A is not a good photo. He looks like an airline pilot on his first day. Option G is a better option, and 2018 is a good year to represent given the regular season championship win. Options E and F are also good, as this isn't a case where the most recent images are significantly different from when the subject was most notable.
