Well, Legislative Assembly of Kerala passed a resolution on 24.06. 2024 to alter the name of the State of “Kerala” to “Keralam”, And the Union cabinet approved the change of name of Kerala to Keralam TheGreatEditor024 (talk) 11:46, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

Merge the sections about renaming?

Both the Kerala#Etymology section and Kerala#Government and administration sections have subsections on the renaming and repeat the same points. I propose that they are merged into the Etymology section that should be renamed "Name" with subsections "Etymology" and "Renaming to Keralam". Le Loy (talk) 05:45, 3 April 2026 (UTC)

per WP:COMMONNAME Why is Mumbai not Bombay?? And Odisha not Orissa? Keralam is always Known by this name both traditionally and locally. Please refer to WP:NAMECHANGES and to add consistency(WP:CONSISTENT) for the state names of India. The title of the Article must be Keralam and if not please change Odisha to Orissa and such articles for consistency.

Those name changes happened a long time ago and (at least in the Western world), Mumbai is a much more recognizable name than Bombay. I think it would be best to read WP:COMMONNAME properly next time.

It's not official yet. A bill has to be proposed in the Parliament and be passed, subsequently updating the Constitution. Only then you could deem it "official". Kaeez06 (talk) 12:14, 5 April 2026 (UTC)

Infobox images

A single houseboat being used to represent the entire state is a very strange choice and against the format of many other states in India/other countries. The previous montage in use for a long time was perhaps excessive in the number of images, but a montage of a selection of different images would be far better suited to this page.
