Former good articleJustin Timberlake was one of the Music good articles, but it has been removed from the list. There are suggestions below for improving the article to meet the good article criteria. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.

[edit]

A lot of the information regarding the forming of *NSYNC is inaccurate. A revision that includes more recent books, articles, interviews or even Lance Bass' documentary would rectify this information.

The numbers given for Timberlake's overall album/record sales as well as the stats for *NSYNC sales are at-least a decade old, they are not accurate and could be updated. Even though some of those numbers have not been certified by the RIAA (even those that have are almost a decade and a half old) they have certainly been reported and updated to charts such as Chartmasters, Chart Data and among countless others.

I've listed this article for peer review because I would like to take this to GA in the future.

This is a substantial and well-researched article. The main issues before you want to proceed to a GAN are factual precision, currentness, quality of source and too much minor detail. These are my observations and suggestions;

  • The lead says The group released four commercially successful albums, becoming one of the best-selling boy bands of all time with sales of over 70 million units worldwide. and Timberlake's first two solo albums, Justified (2002) and FutureSex/LoveSounds (2006), both sold over 10 million copies and received triple platinum certifications from RIAA.
    • Please verify these statements against the cited sources. The NSYNC sales figure and the "four albums" wording should be presented exactly as supported by the source. Worldwide sales must also be separated from U.S. RIAA certifications, that is, give each album's certification individually instead of implying they have identical certifications. The RIAA database should even be used for the certification claims.
"Timberlake enhanced his popularity with an acting career" and "producers … best known for boosting Timberlake's solo career" are promotional and imprecise. Just replace them with neutral wording.
  • The lead is not fully current, that is, it summarises the first five studio albums but omits Everything I Thought It Was (2024), despite the album appearing in the discography and the body. Please add a concise sentence covering the sixth album and current career, without importing every minor collaboration or controversy into the lead.
  • Correct the 2026 award name. In "2023–present: Everything I Thought It Was", the article says Pharrell Williams received the "Dr. Dre Global Music Icon Award". The Recording Academy calls this the "Dr. Dre Global Impact Award", so please correct the wording and cite the official announcement?.
  • The sentence "They stated that the tour had amassed…" also has an unclear antecedent. Replace "They" with "Cowen" or "the report".
  • Reduce the chronological catalogue of minor events. Several passages give undue space to speculative or insignificant material, for example;
    • "another possible collaboration was to occur with Lil Wayne"
    • the unproduced adaptation of My Problem with Women
    • long lists of minor collaborations and guest appearances
    • isolated events such as individual television appearances and promotional performances
Please retain the major albums, singles, films, tours, awards, and collaborations, but remove or substantially condense unreleased projects and minor appearances. The discography, filmography, and touring articles can hold exhaustive lists.
  • The arrest and subsequent plea are relevant, but the bartender's "one martini" quotation, the extended police quotation, the "ruin the tour" meme, and the Chicago speech give the section excessive detail. You can summarise the arrest, charge, plea, and sentence using a high-quality source like Reuters' report. Clearly distinguish allegations, police statements, and established legal outcomes. If the 2026 body-camera lawsuit remains, state its current procedural status and avoid implying that the allegations have been adjudicated.
  • Trim trivial public-image material. The paragraph about "Trousersnake", alleged penis size, the list of Madame Tussauds locations, and the SNL costume display is not proportionate to Timberlake's biography. Please remove it or reduce it to a brief, independently significant discussion of his public image. The Legacy section also contains many rankings, repeated superlatives, and a long list of allegedly influenced artists. Replace the catalogue with a sourced synthesis of his critical and cultural influence.
  • Fix the album-count error in "Achievements". The article says: "All five of Timberlake's albums have been certified platinum or better by RIAA". The discography lists six studio albums. Correct the number or specify which five albums are meant. Also date the sales statistics and distinguish worldwide sales from U.S. certifications. The Sony Music UK figures are first-party promotional claims, so they should be attributed instead of used alone to establish superlatives. See.
  • Condense "Other ventures" and personal-finance detail. The section gives extensive coverage to restaurants, endorsements, Air Jordan resale prices, real-estate transactions, estimated earnings, and net worth. Most of this is not really central to the biography of JT. Remove or condense material like "resell for upwards of $10,000" and "one of the music industry's wealthiest solo performers" unless reliable independent sources establish clear significance, which you can quote.
The sentence "Timberlake provides celebrity endorsement for many commercial products, this aspect…" is a comma splice so it should be rewritten or even removed.
  • I spot-checked some sources: Reuters supports the plea outcome, and the Recording Academy and contemporary reporting support the 2026 performance. But I observed that some claims rely on first-party promotional material, celebrity-news quotations, an Instagram post, EarOne, or 123RF. Replace or qualify these where stronger independent sources are available. The Lyme diagnosis should be attributed to Timberlake and supported with secondary reporting like AP's report.
