Concerns regarding unverified and potentially misleading content

Hello, I would like to express my concern regarding the recent addition to the article stating:

“In June 2025, Leto was accused of sexual misconduct by at least nine women in events dating as far back as 2006…”

While I understand Wikipedia’s policy on covering notable allegations, this claim is very recent, and at the moment, there appear to be no reliable secondary sources (such as major verified news outlets) that confirm these accusations or provide concrete evidence.

An accusation by itself, especially without legal proceedings, official statements, or confirmed investigations, should not be presented as fact or proof of guilt. Publishing such unverified accusations against a living person may constitute defamation and a violation of their rights, which contradicts Wikipedia’s Biographies of Living Persons (BLP) policy aimed at protecting living individuals from potentially harmful or defamatory material.

Unless this statement is properly sourced and rephrased, I respectfully request that its removal or significant revision be considered.

Define "allegation". Did these accusers file charges with the Police, in such a way that they then are held accountable if the allegations are later proven to be false, or did they tell "someone" who told someone who told someone, etc... until eventually they are called "allegations" instead of "gossip". Does Wikipedia have some kind of standard for allegations that are either included or excluded? Seems to me that accusers should have some skin in the game before they are taken seriously. Under oath, penalty of perjury, etc... else it's just empty and meaningless words that literally anyone can say with no negative consequences. I don't like the neat package of "9 women allege" as if somehow the number of accusers makes the accusations more legitimate with no more corroboration than that. Also the length of time between whatever act was alleged and the act of accusing. Days, weeks, months, years, all of this is relevant and should be included. Further, a statement like "despite the allegations, no charges have been filed" or the opposite is really necessary IMO to give the Reader some idea of the level of credibility of the allegations. There is a huge difference between "after 5 years no statements have been made to Police" vs. "a complaint was filed the very next day". I would like to raise a concern regarding a section recently added to this article that references allegations reported by The Daily Mail. This inclusion appears to violate Wikipedia’s Biographies of Living Persons (BLP) policy. Jared Leto is a living individual, and Wikipedia policy requires that any potentially defamatory material be handled with extreme caution, supported by high-quality, reliable sources, and presented with strict neutrality. The Daily Mail is widely regarded within Wikipedia as a sensationalist and unreliable source, particularly for serious accusations. The claims mentioned are unproven, have not resulted in legal action or convictions, and their inclusion risks causing undue harm to the subject’s reputation. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a platform for rumors or tabloid allegations. Biographical articles should focus on verifiable information such as early life, career, filmography, discography, and confirmed, well-documented events. I respectfully request that this content be reviewed and removed in accordance with Wikipedia’s BLP guidelines and sourcing standards.

Allegations of sexual assault and misconduct (2026)

On 29 July 2026 the BBC published an investigation and accompanying documentary, Jared Leto: Hollywood's Dark Secret, in which ten women described encounters with Leto said to have taken place between 2002 and 2016, when he was in his thirties and forties. Nine of the women were speaking publicly for the first time. Four of them accused Leto of conduct they characterised as criminal sexual offences, in each case alleging they were teenagers at the time.

A woman identified by the pseudonym "Isabel" alleged that Leto sexually assaulted her in a motel bathroom in Las Vegas in 2002, when she was 17. A second woman, identified as "Alex", said that in 2013, aged 19, she was left alone with Leto in a London hotel room after a Thirty Seconds to Mars concert at the O2 Arena, and that he made a graphic sexual threat towards her. A third woman said she had sex with Leto in California when she was 17, below the state's age of consent, and that he dismissed her concerns about her age. A fourth, identified as "Etta", said she met Leto through a Los Angeles modelling agency in 2014 at the age of 16 and that he subsequently sent her sexually explicit messages and telephone calls; she said she was asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement in 2016 and declined. The BBC reported that it had seen the agreement and corroborating messages.

Four further women alleged that Leto had made sexual telephone calls to them when they were younger. Two men who had worked with Thirty Seconds to Mars told the programme that staff had been uncomfortable with the way Leto interacted with teenage girls, including inviting them backstage. The BBC said it had corroborated a number of the accounts with friends and family who were told of the encounters at the time, and in some cases had reviewed photographs and messages.

Leto did not respond to the BBC's requests for comment. The allegations followed a 2025 report in Air Mail in which nine women accused him of inappropriate behaviour, which his representatives denied.

They were in the article when you made this request, as the history of the article proves. Since this is a BLP, there's no need to go overboard with salacious claims he doesn't appear to have been formally accused of. FDW777 (talk) 16:30, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

I'm concerned at the idea that these allegations are "salacious". To quote The Guardian, "What is particularly galling about Hollywood’s Dark Secret is that this is not the first time someone has tried to investigate these claims. As far back as 2005, the New York Post was running gossip columns that claimed he was “aggressively pursuing” what were described as “underage objects of desire” at a New York hotel. By 2018, actor Dylan Sprouse and director James Gunn were trading jokes about Leto’s interest in teenage girls online. Last year, Air Mail’s Elena Clavarino spoke to nine women who variously claimed that Leto pursued them, engaged in sexually explicit telephone conversations with them, exposed himself to them and masturbated in front of them – all while they were underage." These allegations date back two decades and while once the subject of gossip they are now backed by two investigative reports, one with nine anonymous complainants and one with four named complainants and six anonymous, so this is not a BLPGOSSIP situation. Leto is a public figure and has been open about having sex with fans, so there's no BLPPRIVACY concern ("Cumulatively, when these stories have been added to archive footage of concerts where Leto has his arms draped around young girls, and talkshow appearances where he brags about sleeping with fans, and one particularly unnerving clip where he quotes the old Dazed and Confused line about high school girls – “I keep getting older but they stay the same age” – the effect is completely disturbing." - The Guardian). It's not UNDUE or a RECENCY problem to give more detail, because the Air Mail documentary was a year ago and dozens of outlets have picked up on the allegations. If there's a consensus to include more details, no big deal. It's just that both posts from AlainPerdris say the allegations were omitted, when they weren't. I've never said they should be excluded completely, I just think we should err on the side of caution when it comes to allegations that aren't, to the best of my knowledge, yet formal legal complaints. Credible accusations of pedophilia and sexual assault

For decades, women have credibly accused Leto of pedophilia and sexual assault. In July 2026, the BBC published a report with the stories of four women ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XW5sinYkbA ).
