AP News

[edit]

@PEPSI697:

The article says Al-Soudais had previously described Jews as "the scum of the human race, the rats of the world, the killers of prophets and the grandsons of monkeys and pigs" sparking condemnation from the Jewish group.

and the source says:

According to a much-quoted Associated Press dispatch, al-Sudais is reported to have called Jews “the scum of the human race, the rats of the world, the killers of prophets and the grandsons of monkeys and pigs.”

but I can't find it on apnews.com (even after checking 3 transliterations of his last name).

It looks like it is based on and but those don't look like reliable sources. According to it comes from AP wire 4/21/02.

Also the article uses 2 different transliterations of his last name: Al-Sudais to an Islamic Society of North America conference. Al-Soudais.

The IP shouldn't editwar, but they appear to be correct that it is nonsensical to list the fact that some weirdo got invited to a conference decades ago on an article about a mosque that exists since 1969. Who cares? Polygnotus (talk) 07:20, 20 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for that. I can see the reason why now. Though, the IP could've explained that they weren't reliable sources. Initially on 19 April 2025, the IP did not explain the reason for their removal of their content in the edit summary and just warned them to next time explain the reason, however, Warriorglance went and reverted the edit again claiming the content shouldn't be removed, the edit warring then started as I and the IP changed it back even if the IP shouldn't of edit warred or failed to talk on the article's talk page. Yeah sometimes IPs don't bother reading our 47568325 policies and guidelines and essays.
The globalnews.ca article talks about "Islamic Society of North America-Canada", and thestar.com talks about Mississauga’s ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) Development Foundation. But neither mentions "Jami mosque". So if that is valid criticism it should be moved to ISNA Canada (which is the actual organization being criticized), not the article about the mosque which is just a building. Abdul-Rahman Al-Sudais has his own article, stuff about him should be there. Polygnotus (talk) 14:25, 20 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

ISNA

[edit]

What is the relation with ISNA Canada? Do they own it? If so that should be mentioned. Polygnotus (talk) 07:38, 20 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Bosniak and Albanian

[edit]

I removed the claim about the group being predominantly Bosniak and Albanian, I can't find any sources except https://islamicheritage.co.za/jami-mosque/ and that page was first archived in the Wayback Machine in 2024 so they probably copied from Wikipedia.
