If wiki really prioritizes accurate information than he wouldn’t be listed as a professional boxer. He’s not in any leagues nor is he a member of any professional boxing organization that is reputable and established. He’s is an exhibition fighter who didn’t go through the proper channels and for all intents and purposes he is just an entertainer/stuntman similar to wrestling stars in the WWE. It is not fair to hard working boxers that did the leg work and paid due diligence and should be corrected. If they have a half-time fan shot event at a NBA game and I score that does not mean I’m part of the team… the league didn’t sign me I can’t just come in and call my self a NBA star. 2600:382:2721:827C:8129:1378:AEDB:7F1 (talk) 23:59, 18 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
“Professional” is pushing it. Yes he has had fights sanctioned by these bodies but he is not a member of any boxing committee, saying they are professional fights is massively exaggerating the truth, when at best they have been exhibitions with contractual obligations in favour of JP. Like the OP says it massively detracts from actual professional boxers who have learned their craft and honed their skills in the ring. I can get a diploma online that says I am a doctor, it doesn’t make it true and more crucially would give people the impression that I have skills that I do not. ~2025-34006-61 (talk) 12:19, 16 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Regardless of your or anyone else's opinion on Paul, his boxing ability or the legitamicy of his fights, he is a professional boxer. Professional boxing is defined (per it's Wiki article) as "regulated, sanctioned boxing", which a number of Paul's fights have been. Furthermore, the same article goes on to list major sanctioning bodies, one of which being the World Boxing Association, which currently has Jake Paul listed as the No. 14 ranked boxer in their cruiserweight division. Anyone's beliefs on whether his contributions to the sport are positive or not have absolutely zero bearing on whether or not he is a professional boxer, which factually, he is. His fights aren't legitimate if he pays to win. It's a dog and pony show at best. He's a youtuber, and performer, he's an act portraying a boxer. Yes he's played a role in professional boxing matches, but as one person has already stated, he's an exhibition "fighter", not a professional boxer. ~2026-18035-07 (talk) 00:35, 23 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
No but this is the crucial point, he **is** as accreditied as others. Yes, he has had an unusual career compared to other boxers, however, there are undeniabley boxers who are worse than him or who don't do it full time and yet who would be considered professional boxers.
If a youtuber did a similar thing, and became a professional English football player, and played in professional leagues, then no matter how bad or good anyone percieved them or their route into the sport to be, it does not matter, they should and would be called a professional footballer.
Likewise, Jake Paul has had professional boxing fights regulated and sanctioned by major recognised sanctioning bodies against others who again are undoubtably professional boxers, regardless of your opinion on their skill. I am still yet to see any evidence or reasoning for him not being a professional boxer other than critiques which boil down to "he is bad" or "I don't like how he got to the position". The first time he fought against soneone who wasn't an old man, he got a broken jaw. I imagine RS will reflect that soon and we'll need to reevaluate calling him a professional boxer. TarnishedPathtalk03:23, 21 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
He does meet the requirements for being a professional boxer, having boxed in multiple professional, sanctioned fights. The main problem with this article is that it gives a huge amount of undue weight to his nascent boxing career rather than what he’s notable for, which is being an influencer. Needs to be fixed. See my comments in Talk:Jake Paul#He’s not a professional boxer. whatever you think of his ability, he is a professional boxer. There are journeymen who have lost 50-0 in their careers, and yet are undeniably professional boxers.
I do agree with others that there is perhaps undue weight placed on it, but also note that with how watched his fights have been on Netflix, that he is also highly notable for his boxing career too, in my opinion the weighting only needs very slight adjustments. Professional boxer means that boxer profession is been from Amateur boxing to Professional boxing and is boxer full time occupation, hence Professional boxer, which in JP case isn't the case, even boxing with ex MMA fighters isn't real boxing, those are two very different fighting standards, JP's it's in entertainment business , just for money not for the professional title, the belt. He can be a boxer, but professional boxer is a stretch, at best. Let's see more boxer on boxer fights, not ex MMA or ex boxers, so you will see the difference between Professional boxer and influencer aspiring to be boxer (professional boxers don't get broken jaws easily, concussions yes).
