I would say the tone and scope is still off balance. This requires a student of Islamic studies using an objective and historical approach and not a partisan voice. This is a very sensitive topic and pro and con authories should be balanced, though we can say that it is not a mainstream view that sufism or shiism are heresies!

Moreover there are some bizarre sects and groups (Al Qaeda is one) that have interpretations that can be defined as heretical. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.14.114.133 (talk) 19:31, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Merger proposal

[edit]

I propose that we merge this article into Bid'ah per Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not a dictionary. Bid'ah and heresy are essentially the same thing. Additionally, this article has no reliable sources. I recently removed every source given because all of them were primary. First, they were used improperly to push one point of view, then to push the opposite point of view. It's obviously a matter of academic discussion which should not boil down to rival sects using Wikipedia as a soapbox. Since they're essentially about the same thing, and this one has no reliable sources at all, I suggest a merge/redirect. MezzoMezzo (talk) 04:18, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
