Avoid genus short names

Potential
[edit]@SlvrHwk @MPF I think this has Good Article or even Featured Article potential. But for that to happen, I think there need to be some minor changes, particularly in the Biology section, which could use some tidying up. The statement Two other cases of intergeneric hybridization (hybrids between individuals of different genera) have been documented in the family Corvidae prior to the discovery of the 'grue jay'. seems to assume from those reports that those are the only other cases. I suggest it at the very least be changed to mention that a few other cases have been documented rather than the number. Input would be appreciated . RanDom 404 (talk) 16:33, 25 July 2026 (UTC)

- What matters most is that this is a well-written article with quality illustrations, not whether the topic is the most important (it did receive a lot of coverage last year, so it isn't overtly obscure either). - "with quality illustrations" – now there's a case in point; we're lucky that there is a tolerably decent photomontage with the bird concerned with a cc-license; it is the only one that exists with a creative commons license. There won't be another, for a very long time, probably not ever.
- "(it did receive a lot of coverage last year, so it isn't overtly obscure either)" – like any one-off event, it got a lot of interest when it happened. That's already declined, and it's unlikely to be renewed any time soon. Even if there is ever a second hybrid of this parentage, it won't get the same attantion as the first one did.

- I'm inclined to agree with MPF here, even if just based on vibes and little else. It's such a short article on a rather trivial topic (not that either of those are especially relevant to GA criteria).
