Normalization of Oxia Variants to Tonos Equivalents

Wikipedia seems to be correcting any use of the standalone oxia over a vowel into a tonos, which makes the table inaccurate (because the Unicode listed uses the oxia in those cases). There doesn’t seem to be a straightforward workaround as any edits with this change are simply overridden. Table alpha, row eight, column four, listed as U+1F71, but passing it through a Unicode inspector (such as this one) gives the code U+03AC, which is the the previous listed character, GREEK SMALL LETTER ALPHA WITH TONOS, instead of GREEK SMALL LETTER ALPHA WITH OXIA, which is what it is supposed to be (the character displayed when checking the character table for U+1F71)
Any vowel, uppercase or lowercase, that has this accent as well as the Unicode U+1Fxx, also has this problem, however. It does not affect, as far as I know, any other accents (expect perhaps iota and upsilon with the diaeresis and the supposed oxia, as there are corresponding versions that use the tonos) NotAGrApe73 (talk) 19:31, 28 November 2025 (UTC)
