Note: These are only my thoughts on ghosts. I cannot speak for other people and I do not intend to.
I’ll start off by saying I’ve never seen a ghost and honestly, I’m conflicted. According to Wikipedia, 18% (or something like that) of the American population have seen ghosts. So, what to believe? In my opinion, there’s no real answer. For those of us that have never seen them, it’s easy to say “no, they’re not real” but, what if they are? Then there’s another question you have to ask yourself, if 18% of the population have seen ghosts, then why haven’t you? And if you have… good for you? I honestly don’t know what to say about that.
In the end, it’s probably best to stay undecided about your belief in this matter (unless you’ve encountered one, then your answer is probably “yes”). However, that’s just me. 68.105.65.26 (talk) 06:53, 26 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hello IP, normally we would use the talk page to discuss possible changes to the article. Even if the ghost stories are just folklore tales, they still have immersive value and can help us learn a lot about a people based upon what scares them. ShaveKongo (talk) 14:39, 28 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Is there any scholarly consensus for the types of ghost listed here? Using Theresa Bane as a source seems misguided - scanning through her encyclopedias of fairies and demons, she does not seem to write about folklore from a scholarly perspective. This article should not be synthesising categories from general motifs in ghost stories per WP:SYNTH. If there is no scholarly consensus/rigorous attempt to categorise ghosts in this way, this section should be cut. Becsh (talk) 10:36, 21 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
