Name pronunciation

[edit]

The pronunciation of the last vowel in the linked source video is a schwa rather than the [a] stated. My suggested phonetic spelling, removing an unnecessary stress diacritic and adding a (arguably also unnecessary but to my liking) syllable boundary, would be [ɡal ɡə.ˈdot].

Hebrew doesn't have /ə/. See Modern Hebrew phonology and WP:IPAINTEGRITY. Nardog (talk) 04:40, 6 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Lead

[edit]

Perhaps someone more familiar with the page than I am could add some clarification to the last sentence of the lead, explaining where the criticism is coming from? At the very least, it should be clarified that the criticism is not coming from within Israel (which I assume it is not). OrdinaryOtter(talk) 03:22, 22 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

@OrdinaryOtter Hi, I changed the lead. Please check it out and give me your thoughts. Lililolol (talk) 21:39, 10 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the message. I'm glad to see you fleshed it out a bit. A few thoughts:
  1. It's not quite accurate to say that the Genesis Prize is an organization, so maybe it shouldn't be listed or should be incorporated differently.
  2. Does Wikipedia use "Zionist" and "Israeli nationalist" interchangeably? I see that "Israeli nationalist" links to Zionism. Should we be using just one or the other?
  3. At first glance, the last sentence sounds strange. Why are Israeli nationalists criticizing her support of the military and the hostages? Maybe I've been out of touch with current events, but I thought those were both things that Israeli nationalists also support.

Awards and Nominations

[edit]

Does this section only apply to acting awards? Should 2026 Genesis Prize be added to it? PlainJane91 (talk) 08:12, 21 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Comparison to the Hadid sisters is brought up 3 times in the "Advocacy" particularly under "Views on Israeli":

"He compared her to Bella and Gigi Hadid, who are vocal in their pro-Palestinian support..."

"She was compared to the Hadid sisters, with critics urging her to speak, however, she remained silent in response..."

"This led to criticism from some in Israel, accusing her of equating both sides.Journalist Ofira Asayag criticized her as out of touch and questioned her loyalty to Israel, comparing her to celebrities like Dwayne Johnson and Gigi Hadid, who showed more balanced support for both sides"

Maybe there's something I'm missing but this feels repetitive. I suggest removing the similar sentences.Eh-st-har (talk) 22:54, 18 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

I agree, and it's also odd to have comparisions to other celebrities in general. jolielover♥talk 05:43, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I found it so weird that the moment her "lack of strong support" is brought up it was immediately followed with something like "...unlike the Hadid sisters though. They are very vocal in their pro-Palestinian support" Eh-st-har (talk) 08:17, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
The entire section is much too long and should be condensed. The article doesn't need to exhaustively detail every single time she's faced criticism for her views on the conflict. Day Creature (talk) 05:49, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
+1 jolielover♥talk 05:50, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
If no one objects, I'll take a stab at condensing it at some point when I have more time. Day Creature (talk) 06:00, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
That's a good idea. Thanks for your help! Eh-st-har (talk) 08:19, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've completed the trimming and am marking the request as answered. Day Creature (talk) 17:26, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
