@Theleekycauldron: Hi. Reviewed on the article talk page, this nom is an apparent disqualify until concerns raised there are addressed. @Umais Bin Sajjad: It does not comply 5x anymore. Thank you! M. Billoo 01:07, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've expanded and reran DYKcheck. The current version stands above 8,000 characters of readable prose, so it meets 5x now. Umais🗣 06:23, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Umais Bin Sajjad: Can you also extract a hook from the article related to the 2026 FIFA WC? @Bremps: Can you please discuss at the WT:DYK so that the nom be featured at the SOHA? We are almost a week away and any secondary uninvolved user can tick off this under 5x eligibility. For now, my review is that the article seems well-developed and well-sourced after my previous comments on the talk page. QPQ presented, all hooks sourced, and no major problems. Image also seems licensed, but I could not verify for now due to being an international inaccesaable reference. This can also be a part of WP:DCWC. Thank you! M. Billoo 09:32, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Quick concerns

[edit]

@Umais Bin Sajjad: Hi, thank you for expanding this article. Here are some quick concerns below:

  • Wherever official websites are cited as reference, are there any other secondary coverage whether dependent or independent, that could verify this? Although, WP:ABOUTSELF may allow this, the website should still go under External links section.
  • Reliability of Marxist.com? Also, "The reported dispute concerned Forward Gear rather than Forward Sports directly." This sentence does not sound well in wikivoice.
  • WP:WTW... More specifically, WP:PEACOCK terms?
  • Not a major problem, but the lead paragraph should present summary of the article content and does not necessarily require inline references. In other words, the content in lead can be verified from the article body, which then further be verified from the references. See WP:LEAD.
  • "'Made-in-Sialkot' Adidas ball puts Pakistan in the World Cup". This reference is potentially inaccessable, but a mirror reference is available.

Thank you again! M. Billoo 05:30, 22 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the review. I've addressed the concerns by trimming primary-source material, removing the weak "Forward Gear labour claim", reworking the labour section with secondary sources, fixing repeated prose, and toning down wording per MOS:WTW. Please let me know if you find anything else. Umais🗣 06:43, 22 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Well thank you for immediate responding. I did not intend a complete removal, instead if it could get a proper WP:INTEXT WP:ATTRIB wherever applicable. I see some factual overlaps with another article, Football manufacturing in Pakistan. Please check if there are any WP:WTW as well. Also, by any chance, can your DYK nomination be a double? Thank you again. M. Billoo 17:31, 22 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Regarding the "Forward Gear" material, I removed it because I couldn't find stronger secondary sourcing for the labour claim. I can restore a brief later, properly attributed sentence if a reliable source is available. Regarding the overlap with Football manufacturing in Pakistan, some background facts naturally overlap, but I tried to keep this article focused on the Forward Sports specifically. Since Football manufacturing in Pakistan already has a separate approved DYK nomination, I think it is cleaner to keep this as a single-article nomination and use a company-specific Forward Sports hook. Umais🗣 18:15, 22 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Umais Bin Sajjad: Please be honest. Is this an AI-generated article? The repeated phrasing suggest so, including "hand-stitching", "thermo-bonded", the use of reference "A different ball game", etc.
After my recent edits, the page is no more a 5x and may disqualify from the DYK. The older version was 1600B, and the current version is 7143B.
Please see WP:LLM and rectify the issues, thank you! M. Billoo 10:20, 26 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Please do not infer LLM generation from repeated topic-specific terms alone. The article was not generated on LLM. Terms "hand-stitching" and "thermo-bonded" are repeated because they are central to the cited sources and the subject matter. The reference title "A different ball game" is also simply the title of the cited source. On the 5x point, my understanding is that DYK eligibility should be checked by prose size, rather than revision-history byte counts. Correct me if I'm wrong. I would appreciate a second opinion from another reviewer before you come to conclusion. Umais🗣 11:52, 26 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
You can use WP:3O, Ty. M. Billoo 11:57, 26 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
