After a quick looksee, she refers to herself as being Albanian/Kosovo and British, so that seems the optimal option.
"“We all deserve to be proud of our ethnicity and where we are from. I simply want my country to be represented on a map and be able to speak with pride and joy about my Albanian roots and my mother country,” she clarified in a public statement carried by BBC News following a controversial social media post." I removed it because the short description should be concise and doesn't need to list all of her occupations. She is still described as a songwriter in the lead sentence and the infobox. Day Creature (talk) 15:22, 19 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Day Creature Such changes need consensus, if you disagreed regarding the mention of the songwriter capacity at the short description you should have left it as it was and gain consensus at the article's talk page regarding its removal. ~2026-23585-16 (talk) 19:13, 19 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
It would be better if you self-revert and just leave the stable version if you disagree with mine, I cannot do the revert myself since the article is semi-protected. (P.S. the songwriter capacity at the short description was not ommited when Lipa was described as an Albanian singer and songwriter besides an English one, now that she is described as an English person solely per the new consensus, it is just fine regarding its length). ~2026-23585-16 (talk) 20:03, 19 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'm not going to self-revert, as I believe my change is an improvement. You haven't provided a policy-based reason for why you object to it. Anyone else who disagrees with my edit is free to revert it or raise their objection here. Day Creature (talk) 20:08, 19 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
How is it an improvement? Lipa was mentioned for years as a singer and songwriter (or singer-songwriter) and you change it at your own will. You have to gain consensus, especially since there is a disagreement with your edit and as you said above Lipa is mentioned twice as a songwriter in the main body. ~2026-23585-16 (talk) 21:28, 19 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's an improvement because it's shorter and it's all that is needed for readers to quickly identify what the article is about (which is the whole purpose of a short description, see WP:SDPURPOSE). Adding "and songwriter" would put the short description over 40 characters, which is the recommended upper limit (see WP:SDFORMAT). Short descriptions are not a definition of the article's subject or a summary of the lead of the article (see WP:SDNOTDEF), so it does not need to match the occupations listed in the first sentence. At the moment it seems you are the only one with an objection to the change, but if any other editors object I am happy to discuss further. Day Creature (talk) 14:01, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
