When an artist is no longer carried by a label, does the category usually get removed? In other words, does the category include formerly associated artists? If dropping is special (being in bad standing), let's talk about it. We have a section that can adequately textually convey the drops. Once released, a track or album appears published and rather permanently studioed. I don't have a particular opinion on it at the moment. I just want to clarify this edit on the metrics of category inclusion. JFHJr (㊟) 01:53, 16 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I undid your edit because these categories include former associates as well as current ones. Publications are forever and can't be undone. Dropping can be conveyed textually, but the categories are still valid because publications won't unhappen. JFHJr (㊟) 17:29, 17 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
The fact that a person can be “dropped” from a label shows that “Labels” is more like “current contract employer / company residence” (basically). Common usage and implication.
Also the info box is about the person, not any published albums.
Also info box template says “ label - The record label or labels to which the act has been signed” —the act (person), not existing publications.
Being “dropped” means the person is now not on those Labels. So it seems what we need is a better terms or clarity around the “Labels” field in the info box: it should be something like “Published on: “ (where past tense indicates unchangeable historical facts)or “Associated Labels” if it’s really about past publications.RandomEditor6772314 (talk) 20:50, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Infobox reversion
Latest comment: 2 months ago1 comment1 person in discussion
Recently, there was a reversion in the infobox markup that I didn't do but I support. The markup is solely for articles about convicted persons with iboxes, as far as WP:BLP is concerned. Same goes for other similar markup and categories. I'm posting here to offer proponent/s a forum for discussion if one is needed. JFHJr (㊟) 22:20, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
