Split

We should have separate articles on the brothers, perhaps with this article remaining to cover their joint memorialization. Srnec (talk) 20:18, 9 March 2026 (UTC)

The size of the article (3556 words) is well below 6000 words threshold (WP:SIZERULE), and thus there is no reason size-wise to split. Moreover, there are two major questions:

• Their biography is most often presented as being together (I say this without being an expert on this). Do we have enough sources to describe their work separately to justify separate articles?
• Note that this article had been subject of national sensitivities over the years. Splitting might be a Pandora's box. I am just saying.

Finally, do we need to split? If needed new articles can be created where the biography of each is described, and the collaborative work is described here. In the future, 3 articles will probably be necessary (as pointed out), as there are sources discussing them as a group and sources discussing them individually. But for now, it is short and splitting is difficult. If you split, it is best to write all articles in draftspace first. I say it not because of the size of the article but because they have separate albeit intertwined biographies. I suspect that the current article misleads some people about how intertwined their careers were. I was provoked to post by the recent article "Constantine the Philosopher at the Caliph’s Court", which is entirely about an episode in Constantine/Cyril's life. In any case, there is no rush.
