This article only states that cow is illegal to kill in some Indian states, but cow/cattle is the national animal of Nepal and is a protected animal under the constitution of Nepal. But, whenever I update the article alongwith the references, someone comes and deletes that citing it as irrelevant. So, cow is a sacred animal in Hinduism and it's illegal to kill in the entire country of Nepal and any violation can result in heavy penalties and sentence to prison in Nepal, so the article should mention that. "Before 1790, beef cattle averaged only 160 kg (350 lb) net." This utterly ridiculous claim is referenced to a source making an even more outlandish claim: "Over the course of 30 years, we've possibly increased mature size of our beef cows by more than 3000 lbs." This is due to English not having a genderless singular word for an individual of the taurine cattle species. In the common vernacular "cow" takes the place of where that word would be used. Presumably because people see a lot more cows than bulls (what with male cattle being much less likely to live into adulthood). ~2026-39752-92 (talk) 17:58, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

The following statement is given under "Husbandry">"Population": "Cattle have the largest biomass of any animal species on Earth, at roughly 400 million tonnes, followed closely by Antarctic krill at 379 million tonnes and humans at 373 million tonnes."
I believe this is at least partially incorrect. The following article is given as a source but it doesn't seem to support the statements:
