@Lemonademan22: I've searched through the archives and this "consensus" you you assert does not, in fact, exist. To the contrary, multiple other editors including yourself have agreed that MOS:CURRENT/WP:CURRENTLY should be applied consistently. Furthermore, you are the only editor, based on my look through the page history, to have added the less-concise "as of" wording. Please stop adding it unless you actually get a consensus to do so.
In this case, the information you are trying to convey, which is when X wrestler's contract began, is irrelevant trivia and not time dependent so as to warrant the {{as of}} tag. The lead is meant to summarize the key points of the entire article. ―"Ghost of Dan Gurney"(hihi)23:29, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
The consensus discussion was here, from two years ago. I believe most professional wrestling biographies now use "As of", so this concern would affect many more articles than this. Prefall23:36, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
The community consensus answered such an issue, though temp accounts and inexperienced editors whom aren't accustomed to either Wikipedia standards or PW MOS standards remove it without knowing of the consensus.

Regardless of what they say on commentary or social media accounts about being an “8 time world champ,” Punk is factually a 9 time champion because ECW Title was formally recognized as a world title and never officially lost that recognition through its 2010 retirement. You can’t just hope people forget things and go by “it wasn’t really booked like a top title therefore let’s forget.” Go by facts or nothing. Until they clarify the status of ECW title itself, Punk is officially a 9 time champ. WrestlingFan1203 (talk) 21:56, 10 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

In the latest season of WWE Unreal, Punk stated that the C.M. stands for "Chicago Made", does this warrant a mention in the main article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-41165-32 (talk) 16:33, 22 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
