Move discussion in progress

Why were abbreviations such as ㌀ added? What criteria were followed? --Backinstadiums (talk) 16:25, 21 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

They date back to Unicode 1.0.0, and were added for compatibility with existing/legacy character sets which included such things. For Unicode 1.0, compatibility with existing characters sets was fundamental for getting Unicode accepted, and so many compatibility characters which were not strictly needed were encoded. Can I add [[ ]] to each character? Gioguch (talk) 20:34, 21 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Linking Unicode compatibility characters

[edit]

This page and Unicode compatibility characters should be linked to each other with suitable commentary on the relation between the two. --Macrakis (talk) 13:53, 7 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
