Hello, I have done a lot of research on the Beach Boys and their concerts (including writing the book The Beach Boys In Concert with co-writer Jon Stebbins) and creating my own website Beachboysgigs.com. In the course of my research I was able to prove that the date of Brian Wilson's breakdown was not December 23, 1964 but was instead December 18, 1964. This is proven by advertisements for the Houston concert in the Houston Post at the time. Because Wilson stated that it happened "two days" before Christmas in an interview-subsequent authors and books simply copied this mistake. Hence
Change December 23, 1964 to December 19, 1964.

Campbell continued substituting for Wilson on tour until February 1965, after which Wilson produced Campbell's solo single, "Guess I'm Dumb", as a gesture of appreciation. Columbia Records staff producer Bruce Johnston was subsequently hired as Wilson's permanent touring replacement.[108][nb 11]
However, in actuality, Wilson soon returned to the road, as Glen Campbell often had other commitments. He played a show in Portland, Oregon on January 27, 1965 (photos of this are on my website BeachBoysgigs.com) and then took Glen Campbell's place for a week in February (February 12 to 18. He also replaced Campbell for two California shows at the end of the month. Brian also played concerts in Chicago on March 26 and 27 1965, which were being taped for a live album (not released until 2015)and a show the next day in Cincinnati. He also played an early April show in Anaheim. His last live appearance until 1967 was on July 3, 1965 at the Hollywood Bowl in place of Bruce Johnston, he may also have played the show in San Diego the night before. Hence. it seems to be the case that Wilson was at first willing to play local California shows and important shows outside the state (such as the February 1965 appearances in Philadelphia and New York and the Chicago shows).
