Talk:Borzoi
Add topicRegarding the section "Internet fame"
[edit]Please do not revert that again, Justlettersandnumbers. The fame is literally unnoticable if you go onto a site like YouTube. Poodle23 (talk) 21:17, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
- No, Poodle23, I'll wait for someone else to revert it this time. What exactly do you think you are likely to achieve by WP:edit-warring over it? Per WP:BRD, if your edit has been reverted, your next step is not make the same edit again, but instead to reach consensus on the talk-page for reinstatement of your edit. Which, for the record, I strongly oppose – the Borzoi has been famous for 100 years or more, there is absolutely no reason to add that kind of moronic trivia to our page (which already has quite enough problems as it is). This is an encyclopaedia, not a social media site. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:04, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
- Sure Mr. I think everyone should hail me because i'm an admin. Also, do people really consider reverting 1 edit that reverted your edit on this platform as edit warring? If so everyone here should get an attention span greater than 5 microseconds XD Poodle23 (talk) 22:09, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
Should we add a section about the memes?
[edit]Sometime this year, borzoi dogs became somewhat of a meme. Should we add this information to the article, or no? LocalOhioCitizen (talk) 23:26, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
- I believe we should, a "popular culture" subsection, just like many other articles. 50.45.189.192 (talk) 22:25, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
Kennel Club Standards
[edit]At some point, several of the kennel clubs recognizing Borzoi were removed from the article, leaving only the FCI standard. Missing are the AKC standard, the CKC standard, the (English) KC standard, and the ANKC standard. Perhaps these should be added back? Bandizoi (talk) 13:31, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
Russian Wolfhound
[edit]The term Russian Wolfhound is still used to refer to the breed in both fancy, veterinary, and colloquial contexts. The 1936 date appears to just be when the AKC accepted the name as Borzoi but even if no kennel club officially approves the name it still sees use and I don't believe we should treat the AKC date as being some sort of universally accepted change as the AKC website discusses a controversy around the change. The German Shepherd Dog mentions the name Alsatian in bold despite it not being approved by the Kennel Club anymore. Traumnovelle (talk) 21:35, 8 September 2025 (UTC)
Pattern of persistent reinsertion of misinformation
[edit]Tracking an observation pointed out by omgellendean on Tumblr on their 19 January 2026 post that thrice false claims unsupported by evidence [about invented mass borzoi killings by Communists during the Revolution] have been removed. Please feel free to keep removing them, linking this post, and replying with diffs, so we can determine if page protection, blocks, etc. are needed.
