It is Bismillah not basmallah

- This has been explained many times on this page since 2005(!): Basmala is the NAME of the ENTIRE PHRASE "Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim", while Bismillah is the first two words of the phrase. AnonMoos (talk) 23:22, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

Article name
[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians.
I have noticed the title being different to what people usually call the phrase. Most day-to-day people refer to this phrase as "Bismillah". I know there has been an argument about this for 15 years, but would it be simpler to rename the article to Bismillah as that is how most of the muslim population refers to this phrase?

Basmala vs. Bismillah
[edit]Given the more than 20 year long dispute about the name of this article, I have protected it for a period of 1 year, including move protection. If anyone wants to change to Bismillah, get consensus here before making this change. Further editing warring about the name without seeking consensus will result in partial blocks of the account in question from this article. Please follow Wikipedia:Dispute resolution.
