Needs rewriting
[edit]History is self-contradictory. Organization is poor. --Macrakis (talk) 16:24, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- OK, I rewrote it. I invite my fellow editors to make it better! --Macrakis (talk) 18:06, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
- Some comments on the rewrite:
- The claim that it is similar to Verhackertes is moved from the lead to the "similar products" section -- they really aren't that similar.
- It is bizarre that the (bogus) chronology in the lead goes from newest to oldest, but it doesn't matter because:
- Oraschewsky doesn't claim he invented bacon jam; in fact, he says he was introduced to it by one Bruce Kramer, and mentions no dates before 2013.
- The Cowleys say nothing about having invented it; the headline writer seems to have gotten creative.
- The claim "Bacon jam, like fruit jams, requires a certain level of sugars to be officially labelled 'jam'." was added by a 2-edit anon and makes no sense; bacon jam isn't treated as jam by regulators.
- Recipe removed per WP:NOT.
- There are many spreadable pork products, but none of them (including verhackert) are all that similar to bacon jam.
- The description of the preparation of verhackert seems to be confusing the recipe for speck (an ingredient) with the recipe for verhackert.
