 – The updated draft removes the unsupported exact "70%" formulation and replaces it with more cautious, sourced language about deployment by a large share of ISPs and ATLAS traffic visibility.

The claim that 70% of all ISPs use software from Arbor is made by the company itself! There is no reference to an independent study on this issue. Furthermore, the affirmation is ambiguous: is 70% referring to the a) total number of ISPs, b) persons covered by (connected through) the said ISPs, or c) available bandwidth / bytes transferred in the network by the said ISPs? – Daniel Mahu (talk|contribs) · 17:16, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Aquistion by Netscout?

 – The updated draft adds sourced sections for both the 2010 Tektronix Communications acquisition and the 2015 NetScout acquisition of Danaher's Communications Business, including Arbor Networks.

I find it weird that the Netscout page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NetScout_Systems) mentions their acquisition of Arbor Networks and proudly mentions "their" ATLAS monitoring system, yet the Arbor Networks page (this) says nothing... Most likely the Arbor Networks page should be merged into the new parent company or at least this page should mention their being sold to Netscout. 65.102.37.82 (talk) 03:06, 9 September 2022 (UTC)

May 2026 article update

I prepared an article update intended to address the older sourcing and coverage issues on this page. The draft changes include:

• rewriting the lead to describe Arbor Networks as a former network-security and network-monitoring company now represented by NETSCOUT's Arbor-branded products;
• clarifying the founding language around Farnam Jahanian and G. Robert Malan, while separating more limited claims about other early employees and founding-team members;
• adding sourced history sections for founding, venture financing, Ellacoya and Packetloop, the 2010 Tektronix Communications acquisition, and the 2015 NetScout acquisition;
• expanding product and research coverage for Peakflow SP, TMS, Arbor Cloud, Pravail/Arbor Edge Defense, Arbor Spectrum, ATLAS, the Digital Attack Map, the Worldwide Infrastructure Security Report and the 1.7 Tbps memcached DDoS record;
• replacing unsupported or company-claim-heavy wording with dated, attributed sources from independent coverage, academic literature, public announcements and company filings where appropriate;
• cleaning the external links section to keep only the current official NETSCOUT Arbor page.

The main remaining sourcing caution is that some product and threat-intelligence details necessarily rely on Arbor or NETSCOUT announcements. I tried to use those sources only for routine product-history facts, while using independent sources for acquisition history, internet-traffic research and third-party coverage of major claims.
