Properly color Wiktionary logo in dark mode
[edit]Hi. I'm not super knowledgeable on Lua and how to use TemplateStyles with Lua, but this template should try to use template styles instead of skin-invert on the Wiktionary logo in dark mode. This is because the proper coloring for the Wiktionary logo is as follows (copied from wikt:MediaWiki:Gadget-Site.css):

- The CSS style you requested is already handled by some templates that call this module (i.e., Template:Sister project/styles.css and Template:Sister-inline/styles.css). Nevertheless, those don't cover all use cases, including the important use on the Main Page at {{Wikipedia's sister projects}}. It seems like a good idea to centralize this for all uses of Wiktionary logo, rather than just with the two templates.
- I've added Module:Sister project logo/styles.css to implement the filter from Wiktionary, and modified Module:Sister project logo/sandbox to include it as a TemplateStyle. Are there any thoughts or comments before I make it go live? — hike395 (talk) 17:52, 20 September 2026 (UTC)

- Actually, I think the Wiktionary logo should have its own class, as if we ever need to introduce a dark-on-light logo again, it probably won't use the same styling as the Wiktionary logo. Axolitl (talk | contribs) 18:06, 20 September 2026 (UTC)
- I've added a class to every image which looks like sister-project-logo-wikt, sister-project-logo-d, etc. I think this is actually a better way to handle dark mode (and other custom) styling, as it allows for a lot more customizability. Axolitl (talk | contribs) 18:13, 20 September 2026 (UTC)
- If you want (potentially) distinct CSS for every logo, then the CSS in Template:Sister-inline/styles.css is probably the right way to go: it doesn't define a class, but instead has an conditional statement based on the logo file name. Rationale: See above. This applies the Wiktionary dark mode filter to all uses of the Wiktionary logo in WP. It is also future-proof: if a new logo requires a dark mode filter, it can easily be added to Module:Sister project logo/styles.css.
